The Plot against Daniel

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

Дарий решил поставить над всем своим царством сто двадцать сатрапов

And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

и выбрал трёх человек, чтобы править над ними. Даниил был одним из этих трёх управляющих. Царь поставил этих людей с тем, чтобы никто не обманул его, и он бы не понёс урона в своём царстве.

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Даниил превосходил всех других управляющих, потому что был очень способным человеком и обладал добрым нравом. Даниил так нравился царю, что он помышлял уже поставить его управляющим над всем царством.

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

Когда другие сатрапы и управляющие услышали об этом, они стали завидовать Даниилу. Они стали искать предлога, чтобы обвинить его, и следили за тем, как он управляет царством; но они не находили ничего предосудительного и не могли обвинить его ни в чём. Даниил был очень честным и верным, никогда не обманывал царя и усердно работал.

Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

В конце концов эти люди сказали: "Мы никогда не найдём предлога, чтобы обвинить Даниила, поэтому мы должны найти обвинение против него в законе его Бога".

Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

Тогда два управляющих и сатрапы пошли все вместе к царю и сказали: "Царь Дарий, живи вовеки!

All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellers, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

Управляющие, наместники, сатрапы, советники и военачальники, все согласились между собой. Мы думаем, что царю надо издать повеление, и каждый должен выполнять его. Если кто в течение тридцати дней будет молиться какому-либо богу или человеку, кроме тебя, царь, то человек этот будет брошен в львиный ров.

Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Утверди этот закон, царь, и подпиши бумагу, на которой он написан, чтобы закон нельзя было изменить, потому что мидийские и персидские законы не могут быть отменены или изменены".

Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

Daniel in the Lions' Den

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Даниил всегда молился Богу три раза в день. Три раза в день Даниил становился на колени, молился и прославлял Бога. Услышав о новом указе, Даниил отправился к себе домой. Он поднялся в свою комнату на крыше и подошёл к окнам, которые выходили прямо на Иерусалим. Даниил опустился на колени и стал молится, как он всегда это делал.

Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

Тогда эти люди подсмотрели и нашли Даниила молящегося и просящего Бога о помощи.

Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Они отправились к царю и стали говорить о законе, который тот издал. Они сказали: "Царь Дарий, не ты ли подписал закон, который говорит о том, что в последующие тридцать дней тот, кто станет молиться какому-либо богу, или человеку, кроме тебя, царь, будет брошен в львиный ров?" Царь ответил: "Да, я подписал этот закон. А законы мидян и персов не могут быть отменены или изменены".

Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

И сказали тогда эти люди царю: "Даниил, один из пленников из Иудеи, ни во что тебя не ставит. Он не обращает никакого внимания на закон, подписанный тобою. Даниил всё ещё молится своему Богу три раза в день".

Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

Услышав это, царь очень опечалился. Он решил спасти Даниила. До самого заката солнца он старался придумать, как бы спасти его.

15

Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

Но те люди снова пришли к царю и сказали ему: "Помни царь, что закон мидян и персов говорит о том, что ни один закон или указ, подписанный царём, не может быть отменён или изменён".

Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

И тогда царь Дарий отдал приказ. Даниила привели и бросили в ров со львами. Царь сказал Даниилу: "Я надеюсь, что Бог, Которому ты молишься, спасёт тебя!"

And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

Принесли большой камень и завалили им вход в львиный ров, а царь запечатал его своим перстнем и наложил свою печать на этот камень. Он также запечатал камень перстнями своих чиновников и наложил на него их печати. Это показывало, что никто не может отодвинуть тот камень и вывести Даниила из львиного рва.

Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

После этого царь Дарий вернулся домой. Он ничего не ел в тот вечер, и не хотел, чтобы его развлекали. Всю ночь царь не мог уснуть.

Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

На следующее утро царь Дарий встал на рассвете и поспешил к львиному рву.

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

20

Он очень беспокоился, и когда подошёл ко рву, позвал Даниила: "Даниил, раб Бога живого, смог ли твой Бог спасти тебя от львов?"

21

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

21

Даниил ответил: "Царь, живи вовеки!

22

My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

22

Мой Бог послал Ангела Своего, чтобы спасти меня, и Ангел закрыл львиные пасти. Львы не причинили мне вреда потому, что мой Бог знает, что я невиновен. Я никогда не делал ничего против тебя, царь".

23

Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

Царь Дарий был необыкновенно счастлив. Он велел своим слугам вытащить Даниила из львиного рва, а когда они подняли его оттуда, на теле у Даниила не оказалось никаких повреждений. Львы не причинили Даниилу вреда, ибо он доверял Богу своему.

24

The King's Decree

And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

Тогда царь дал приказ привести людей, которые обвиняли Даниила, и бросить их с жёнами и детьми в львиный ров. Не успели они опуститься на дно рва, как львы набросились на них, растерзали их тела и сгрызли их кости.

Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

Тогда царь Дарий написал письмо всем народам и племенам, говорящим на разных наречиях по всему миру: Мир вам!

I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

Я издаю новый закон. Этот закон для людей в каждой области моего царства. Весь народ должен уважать и бояться Бога Даниила. Бог Даниила — живой Бог. Он живёт вечно! Его царство нерушимо. Его закон вечен.

27

He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

Бог помогает и спасает людей. Бог творит поразительные чудеса на небесах и на земле. Бог спас Даниила от львов.

28

So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Удача сопутствовала Даниилу во всё время царствования царя Дария и в царствование Кира Персидского.
