A Reproof of Ephraim, Judah, Jacob

Mit Lügen hat mich Efraim umzingelt, mit Betrug das Haus Israel und Juda ist Gott gegenüber immer noch unentschlossen und hält an dem fest, was es für heilig hält.
The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

Er rang mit einem Gottesboten und hielt stand. Weinend flehte er ihn um Gnade an. Er fand ihn in Bet-El und dort sprach er mit ihm.
Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
Der HERR, der Gott der Heerscharen, dessen Name HERR ist, sagte:
He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
Du wirst mit Hilfe deines Gottes zurückkehren; bewahre die Liebe und das Recht und hoffe immer auf deinen Gott!
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

Schon in Gilead beging man Verbrechen und auch jetzt handeln sie völlig verkehrt. Sie bringen in Gilgal Stiere als Schlachtopfer dar; darum werden auch ihre Altäre wie Steinhaufen an den Ackerfurchen sein.
And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Jakob floh in die Gegend von Aram; um eine Frau diente Israel, um einer Frau willen hütete er Schafe.
