»Blast das Horn und schlagt Alarm! Der Feind stürzt sich wie ein Adler auf mein Land. Denn seine Bewohner haben den Bund gebrochen, den ich mit ihnen geschlossen habe, und sich gegen meine Gebote aufgelehnt.
Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
Sie schreien zwar zu mir um Hilfe und berufen sich darauf, dass sie mein Volk sind. Ja, sie behaupten, mich zu kennen,
Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
doch in Wirklichkeit verachten sie, was in meinen Augen gut und richtig ist. Darum gebe ich sie in die Gewalt ihrer Feinde.
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
Eigenmächtig haben sie Könige und Führer über ihr Volk eingesetzt, ohne mich, den Herrn, zu fragen. Aus ihrem Silber und Gold gießen sie Götterstatuen — genauso gut könnten sie es wegwerfen!
Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?
Ich verachte euer goldenes Kalb, ihr Leute von Samaria! Ihr ahnt nicht, wie zornig ich auf euch bin! Wann werdet ihr es wohl schaffen, euch von diesem Schandmal zu befreien?
For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
Was soll diese Götzenstatue in Israel? Ein Handwerker hat sie gemacht, darum kann sie ja gar kein Gott sein! Man wird sie in Stücke hauen!
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
Wer Wind sät, wird Sturm ernten. Wenn das Getreide nicht wächst, gibt es auch kein Mehl. Und selbst wenn sich ein paar Ähren fänden, würden Fremde sie verzehren!
Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
Ja, Israel ist verloren, verachtet bei den Völkern ringsum. Das Volk ist wie ein nutzloses Gefäß, das niemand mehr braucht.
For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
Sie haben die Assyrer um Hilfe gebeten und ihnen Geschenke gebracht. Sogar ein Wildesel bleibt unabhängig, aber die Leute von Ephraim versuchen, sich Freunde zu kaufen.
Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
Sie können verschenken, so viel sie wollen. Ich werde sie allesamt in die Fänge des assyrischen Königs treiben, und sie werden sich schon bald unter der Last winden, die er ihnen auferlegt.
Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
Die Leute von Ephraim haben einen Altar nach dem anderen errichtet. Doch damit laden sie nur noch mehr Schuld auf sich. Je mehr Altäre es gibt, desto größer wird ihre Sünde!
I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.
Zehntausendmal könnte ich ihnen meine Gebote aufschreiben — sie blieben ihnen fremd!
They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
Sie bringen mir Schlachtopfer dar und essen sich beim Opfermahl satt. An solchen Opfern habe ich, der HERR, keine Freude! Ich merke mir alles, was sie tun, und werde sie dafür bestrafen: Sie müssen zurück nach Ägypten!
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
Ich habe sie zu dem gemacht, was sie sind. Und trotzdem haben sie mich vergessen! Israel baut prächtige Paläste, und Juda errichtet immer neue Festungen. Doch ich, der Herr, werde ihre Städte und Prachtbauten niederbrennen und vernichten!«
