Offerings for the Temple
Then King David said to the entire assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced and the work is great; for the temple is not for man, but for the LORD God.

Danach wandte David sich wieder an die Versammelten und sagte: »Gott hat meinen Sohn Salomo zu meinem Nachfolger erwählt. Aber er ist noch jung und unerfahren, und vor ihm liegt eine große Aufgabe. Denn er soll nicht einen Palast für Menschen bauen, sondern einen Tempel für Gott, den HERRN.
“Now with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.
Ich habe bereits so viel Baumaterial, wie ich konnte, für den Tempel meines Gottes bereitgestellt: Gold, Silber, Bronze, Eisen und Holz für die Gegenstände, die daraus hergestellt werden sollen; verschiedene Edelsteine, Mosaiksteine und weißen Marmor in großen Mengen.
“Moreover, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy temple,
Und weil mir der Tempel meines Gottes am Herzen liegt, habe ich zusätzlich noch Schätze aus meinem eigenen Besitz gestiftet:
namely, 3,000 talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and 7,000 talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings;
100 Tonnen vom besten Gold aus Ofir sowie 250 Tonnen reines Silber, um damit die Innenwände der Räume zu überziehen.
of gold for the things of gold and of silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the LORD?”
Auch für Gegenstände im Tempel oder für kunstvolle Verzierungen soll ein Teil verwendet werden. Und nun frage ich euch: Wer von euch ist bereit, heute ebenfalls etwas für den HERRN zu geben?«
Then the rulers of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the overseers over the king’s work, offered willingly;
Die Sippenoberhäupter, die Stammesfürsten, die Hauptleute und Offiziere und die Leiter der königlichen Dienstgruppen folgten dem Aufruf des Königs bereitwillig.
and for the service for the house of God they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, and 10,000 talents of silver, and 18,000 talents of brass, and 100,000 talents of iron.
So kamen an diesem Tag für den Tempel 175 Tonnen Gold zusammen, 10.000 Goldmünzen, 350 Tonnen Silber, 630 Tonnen Bronze und 3500 Tonnen Eisen.
Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, in care of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Wer Edelsteine besaß, brachte sie dem Schatzmeister Jehiël aus der Sippe Gerschon, damit er sie zum Tempelschatz legte.
Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD with a whole heart, and King David also rejoiced greatly.
Das ganze Volk freute sich über diese Freigebigkeit, denn alle wollten von ganzem Herzen den Tempelbau unterstützen. Auch König David freute sich sehr darüber.
David’s Prayer
So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever.
Danach lobte David den HERRN vor den Versammelten: »Gepriesen seist du, HERR, du Gott unseres Vaters Israel, für immer und ewig!
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
Du, HERR, besitzt Größe, Kraft, Ruhm, Glanz und Majestät. Alles, was im Himmel und auf der Erde lebt, ist dein. Du bist König, der höchste Herrscher über alles.
“Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.
Du verleihst Reichtum und Ehre, du allein bist der Herr. In deiner Hand sind Macht und Stärke; du kannst Menschen groß und mächtig machen.
“Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
Darum preisen wir dich, unseren Gott, wir loben deinen herrlichen Namen!
“But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You.
Wer bin ich schon, und was ist mein Volk, dass wir dir heute so viel geben konnten? Denn alles, was wir besitzen, kommt von dir.
“For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.
Wir sind vor dir nur Gäste auf dieser Erde, Fremde ohne Bürgerrecht, so wie unsere Vorfahren. Unser Leben ist vergänglich wie ein Schatten. Dem Tod können wir nicht entfliehen.
“O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours.
HERR, unser Gott, wir möchten einen Tempel bauen, um deinen Namen zu verherrlichen. Das ganze Baumaterial, das wir heute dafür zusammengelegt haben, kommt aus deiner Hand, und darum gehört es auch dir.
“Since I know, O my God, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.
Ich weiß, mein Gott, dass du unser Herz prüfst und dich freust, wenn wir aufrichtig sind. Was ich für den Bau des Tempels gestiftet habe, das habe ich gern und mit aufrichtigem Herzen gegeben. Ich freue mich, dass auch dein Volk so freigebig war.
“O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our fathers, preserve this forever in the intentions of the heart of Your people, and direct their heart to You;
HERR, du Gott unserer Vorfahren Abraham, Isaak und Israel, lass dein Volk dir immer so treu ergeben sein! Richte ihr Herz auf dich!
and give to my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the temple, for which I have made provision.”
Gib auch meinem Sohn Salomo ein Herz, das voll und ganz dir gehört, damit er stets dein Gesetz, deine Gebote und Weisungen befolgt. Steh ihm bei, wenn er den Tempel baut, für den ich alles vorbereitet habe!«
Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless the LORD your God.” And all the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed low and did homage to the LORD and to the king.
Dann forderte David die ganze Versammlung auf: »Lasst uns gemeinsam dem HERRN, unserem Gott, danken!« Da beteten alle den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Vorfahren, an. Sie warfen sich vor dem HERRN und vor dem König zu Boden.
Sacrifices
On the next day they made sacrifices to the LORD and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams and 1,000 lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
Am nächsten Tag brachten sie dem HERRN für das ganze Volk Israel große Mengen an Schlacht- und Brandopfern sowie die dazugehörigen Trankopfer dar. Sie schlachteten 1000 junge Stiere, 1000 Schafböcke und 1000 Lämmer.
So they ate and drank that day before the LORD with great gladness.

And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and they anointed him as ruler for the LORD and Zadok as priest.

An jenem Tag feierten sie ein großes Fest für den HERRN. Sie aßen und tranken und waren voller Freude. Noch einmal bestätigten sie Davids Sohn Salomo als den neuen König. Sie weihten ihn dem HERRN und salbten ihn zum König; zum Priester wurde Zadok gesalbt.
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.
So trat Salomo die Nachfolge seines Vaters David an und wurde König über das Volk des HERRN. Er war ein guter Herrscher, ganz Israel erkannte ihn an.
All the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David pledged allegiance to King Solomon.
Auch die führenden Männer des Volkes, die Elitetruppe und die anderen Söhne von David ordneten sich ihm unter.
The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been on any king before him in Israel.
Ganz Israel konnte sehen, wie der HERR die Macht Salomos immer größer werden ließ. Er gab ihm Ehre und Anerkennung, wie sie kein israelitischer König vor ihm besessen hatte.
Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
David herrschte insgesamt 40 Jahre lang als König über Israel, davon sieben Jahre in Hebron und 33 Jahre in Jerusalem.
Death of David
Then he died in a ripe old age, full of days, riches and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place.
Er wurde alt und starb nach einem erfüllten Leben als ein reicher und angesehener Mann. Sein Sohn Salomo trat die Nachfolge an.
