Solomon Worships at Gibeon

Salomo, Davids Sohn, wurde ein bedeutender König. Der HERR, sein Gott, stand ihm bei und ließ seine Macht immer größer werden.
Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and to the judges and to every leader in all Israel, the heads of the fathers’ households.
Eines Tages rief Salomo die führenden Männer Israels zu sich: die Hauptleute und Offiziere, die Richter, die Stammes- und Sippenoberhäupter.
Then Solomon and all the assembly with him went to the high place which was at Gibeon, for God’s tent of meeting was there, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
Er ging mit ihnen zu der Opferstätte nach Gibeon, wo das heilige Zelt stand. Mose, der Diener des HERRN, hatte es einst in der Wüste errichtet, damit das Volk dort Gott begegnen konnte.
However, David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place he had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
Die Bundeslade hatte David bereits von Kirjat-Jearim nach Jerusalem geholt und sie in ein Zelt gestellt, das er dort für sie errichtet hatte.
Now the bronze altar, which Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the LORD, and Solomon and the assembly sought it out.
Der bronzene Altar aber, den Bezalel, der Sohn von Uri und Enkel von Hur, gebaut hatte, stand in Gibeon vor dem Zelt des HERRN. Dort versammelten sich Salomo und die Israeliten.
Solomon went up there before the LORD to the bronze altar which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.
Dann ließ der König auf dem bronzenen Altar tausend Tiere als Brandopfer verbrennen.
In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.”
In der Nacht darauf erschien ihm Gott und sprach zu ihm: »Erbitte von mir, was du willst!«
Solomon’s Prayer for Wisdom
Solomon said to God, “You have dealt with my father David with great lovingkindness, and have made me king in his place.
Salomo antwortete: »Schon meinem Vater David hast du sehr viel Gutes getan. Und nun hast du mich zu seinem Nachfolger gemacht.
“Now, O LORD God, Your promise to my father David is fulfilled, for You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
Du lässt mich ein Volk regieren, das so unzählbar ist wie der Staub auf der Erde. HERR, mein Gott, so bitte ich dich nun, dass du die Zusage erfüllst, die du meinem Vater David gegeben hast!
“Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this great people of Yours?”
Gib mir Weisheit und Verständnis, damit ich dieses Volk richtig führen kann. Denn wie könnte ich sonst ein so großes Volk gerecht regieren?«
God said to Solomon, “Because you had this in mind, and did not ask for riches, wealth or honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor have you even asked for long life, but you have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may rule My people over whom I have made you king,
Da sagte Gott zu Salomo: »Ich freue mich, dass du dir nicht großen Besitz, Geld oder Ansehen gewünscht hast, auch nicht den Tod deiner Feinde oder ein langes Leben. Du hast mich um Weisheit und Verständnis gebeten, weil du mein Volk richtig führen willst, über das ich dich zum König eingesetzt habe.
wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings who were before you has possessed nor those who will come after you.”
Du sollst bekommen, worum du mich gebeten hast: Weisheit und Verständnis. Aber ich will dir auch so viel Besitz, Geld und Ansehen geben, wie es kein König vor dir hatte und auch keiner nach dir haben wird.«
So Solomon went from the high place which was at Gibeon, from the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem, and he reigned over Israel.
Am nächsten Tag verließ Salomo die Opferstätte in Gibeon, wo das heilige Zelt stand. Er kehrte nach Jerusalem zurück und regierte von dort aus über sein Volk.
Solomon’s Wealth
Solomon amassed chariots and horsemen. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, and he stationed them in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.
Salomo besaß 1400 Streitwagen und 12.000 Pferde. Teils brachte er sie in den Städten unter, die er eigens dafür gebaut hatte, teils am königlichen Hof in Jerusalem.
The king made silver and gold as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedars as plentiful as sycamores in the lowland.
Silber und Gold waren zu seiner Zeit in Jerusalem so gewöhnlich wie Steine, und das kostbare Zedernholz gab es in so großen Mengen wie das Holz der Maulbeerfeigenbäume im jüdischen Hügelland.
Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue; the king’s traders procured them from Kue for a price.
Salomo kaufte seine Pferde in Ägypten und in Zilizien, wo seine Händler sie abholten und gleich bezahlten.
They imported chariots from Egypt for 600 shekels of silver apiece and horses for 150 apiece, and by the same means they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.
Auch Streitwagen kaufte Salomo in Ägypten. Für einen Wagen bezahlte er 600 Silberstücke, für ein Pferd 150 Silberstücke. Seine Händler belieferten auch die Könige der Hetiter und der Syrer.
