“May my enemy be as the wicked
And my opponent as the unjust.
Wer mich verklagt, sich zu Unrecht gegen mich stellt, der soll schuldig gesprochen werden. Gott soll ihn mit vollem Recht verurteilen!
“For what is the hope of the godless when he is cut off,
When God requires his life?

Wer Gott verachtet, hat nichts mehr zu hoffen, wenn seine Stunde schlägt, wenn Gott von ihm sein Leben fordert.

Wenn Angst und Schrecken ihn überfallen, wird Gott sein Schreien nicht erhören.

Denn an Gott hat er sich nie gefreut, zu ihm zu beten, lag ihm fern.

Ich will euch Gottes große Macht vor Augen führen und euch nicht verschweigen, was der Allmächtige tun will.

Ihr habt es doch alle selbst gesehen, warum redet ihr dann solchen Unsinn?«

»Was steht einem Menschen zu, der Gott verachtet? Welchen Lohn zahlt der Allmächtige ihm für seine skrupellosen Taten?

Er hat viele Söhne, doch sie fallen im Krieg; seine Nachkommen müssen bitteren Hunger leiden.

Wer dann noch lebt, stirbt an der Pest; ihm selbst weinen seine Witwen keine Träne nach.

Er hat Silber aufgehäuft, als wäre es bloßer Staub, und kostbare Kleider gestapelt;

doch aufrichtige Menschen werden sie tragen, und wer schuldlos ist, wird seinen Silberschatz verteilen.
