The LORD Provides Manna
Then they set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt.

Die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten brach von Elim auf und kam in die Wüste Sin, die zwischen Elim und dem Sinai liegt. Es war der fünfzehnte Tag des zweiten Monats nach ihrem Auszug aus Ägypten.
The whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.
Die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten murrte in der Wüste gegen Mose und Aaron.
The sons of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the LORD’S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
Die Israeliten sagten zu ihnen: Wären wir doch im Land Ägypten durch die Hand des HERRN gestorben, als wir an den Fleischtöpfen saßen und Brot genug zu essen hatten. Ihr habt uns nur deshalb in diese Wüste geführt, um alle, die hier versammelt sind, an Hunger sterben zu lassen.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Ich will euch Brot vom Himmel regnen lassen. Das Volk soll hinausgehen, um seinen täglichen Bedarf zu sammeln. Ich will es prüfen, ob es nach meiner Weisung lebt oder nicht.
“On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.”
Wenn sie am sechsten Tag feststellen, was sie zusammengebracht haben, wird es doppelt so viel sein, wie sie sonst täglich gesammelt haben.
So Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, “At evening you will know that the LORD has brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Da sagten Mose und Aaron zu allen Israeliten: Heute Abend sollt ihr erfahren, dass der HERR euch aus dem Land Ägypten geführt hat,
and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, for He hears your grumblings against the LORD; and what are we, that you grumble against us?”
und morgen werdet ihr die Herrlichkeit des HERRN schauen; denn er hat euer Murren gegen den HERRN gehört. Aber wer sind schon wir, dass ihr gegen uns murrt?
The LORD Provides Meat
Moses said, “This will happen when the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to the full in the morning; for the LORD hears your grumblings which you grumble against Him. And what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD.”
Weiter sagte Mose: Wenn der HERR euch am Abend Fleisch zu essen gibt und euch am Morgen mit Brot sättigt, wenn der HERR also euer Murren hört, mit dem ihr ihn bedrängt, was sind wir dann? Nicht uns galt euer Murren, sondern dem HERRN.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, ‘Come near before the LORD, for He has heard your grumblings.’”
Dann sagte Mose zu Aaron: Sag der ganzen Gemeinde der Israeliten: Tretet hin vor den HERRN; denn er hat euer Murren gehört!
It came about as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.
Während Aaron zur ganzen Gemeinde der Israeliten sprach, wandten sie sich zur Wüste hin. Da erschien plötzlich in der Wolke die Herrlichkeit des HERRN.
“I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God.’”
Ich habe das Murren der Israeliten gehört. Sag ihnen: In der Abenddämmerung werdet ihr Fleisch zu essen haben, am Morgen werdet ihr satt werden von Brot und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR, euer Gott, bin.
So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.
Am Abend kamen die Wachteln und bedeckten das Lager. Am Morgen lag eine Schicht von Tau rings um das Lager.
When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground.
Als sich die Tauschicht gehoben hatte, lag auf dem Wüstenboden etwas Feines, Knuspriges, fein wie Reif, auf der Erde.
When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.
Als das die Israeliten sahen, sagten sie zueinander: Was ist das? Denn sie wussten nicht, was es war. Da sagte Mose zu ihnen: Das ist das Brot, das der HERR euch zu essen gibt.
“This is what the LORD has commanded, ‘Gather of it every man as much as he should eat; you shall take an omer apiece according to the number of persons each of you has in his tent.’”
Das ordnet der HERR an: Sammelt davon so viel, wie jeder zum Essen braucht, ein Gomer für jeden, entsprechend der Zahl der Personen in seinem Zelt!
The sons of Israel did so, and some gathered much and some little.
Die Israeliten taten es und sammelten ein, der eine viel, der andere wenig.
When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat.
Als sie die Gomer zählten, hatte keiner, der viel gesammelt hatte, zu viel, und keiner, der wenig gesammelt hatte, zu wenig. Jeder hatte so viel gesammelt, wie er zum Essen brauchte.
Moses said to them, “Let no man leave any of it until morning.”
Mose sagte zu ihnen: Davon darf bis zum Morgen niemand etwas übrig lassen.
But they did not listen to Moses, and some left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.
Doch sie hörten nicht auf Mose, sondern einige ließen etwas bis zum Morgen übrig. Aber es wurde wurmig und stank. Da geriet Mose in Zorn über sie.
They gathered it morning by morning, every man as much as he should eat; but when the sun grew hot, it would melt.
Sie sammelten es Morgen für Morgen, jeder so viel, wie er zum Essen brauchte. Sobald die Sonnenhitze einsetzte, zerging es.
The Sabbath Observed
Now on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. When all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses,
Am sechsten Tag sammelten sie die doppelte Menge Brot, zwei Gomer für jeden. Da kamen alle Sippenhäupter der Gemeinde und berichteten es Mose.
then he said to them, “This is what the LORD meant: Tomorrow is a sabbath observance, a holy sabbath to the LORD. Bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over put aside to be kept until morning.”
Er sagte zu ihnen: Es ist so, wie der HERR gesagt hat: Morgen ist Feiertag, heiliger Sabbat für den HERRN. Backt, was ihr backen wollt, und kocht, was ihr kochen wollt, den Rest bewahrt bis morgen früh auf!
So they put it aside until morning, as Moses had ordered, and it did not become foul nor was there any worm in it.
Sie bewahrten es also bis zum Morgen auf, wie es Mose angeordnet hatte, und es faulte nicht, noch wurde es madig.
Moses said, “Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to the LORD; today you will not find it in the field.
Da sagte Mose: Esst es heute, denn heute ist Sabbat für den HERRN. Heute findet ihr draußen nichts.
“Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there will be none.”
Sechs Tage dürft ihr es sammeln, am siebten Tag ist Sabbat; da wird nichts da sein.
It came about on the seventh day that some of the people went out to gather, but they found none.
Am siebten Tag gingen trotzdem einige vom Volk hinaus, um zu sammeln, fanden aber nichts.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My instructions?
Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Wie lange wollt ihr euch noch weigern, meine Gebote und meine Weisungen zu bewahren?
“See, the LORD has given you the sabbath; therefore He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. Remain every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.”
Seht: Der HERR hat euch den Sabbat gegeben; daher gibt er auch am sechsten Tag Brot für zwei Tage. Jeder bleibe, wo er ist. Am siebten Tag verlasse niemand seinen Platz.
The house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey.
Das Haus Israel nannte das Brot Manna. Es war weiß wie Koriandersamen und schmeckte wie Honigkuchen.
Then Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded, ‘Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread that I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
Mose sagte: Der HERR ordnet Folgendes an. Ein volles Gomer davon ist für die Generationen nach euch aufzubewahren, damit sie das Brot sehen, das ich euch in der Wüste zu essen gab, als ich euch aus dem Land Ägypten herausführte.
Moses said to Aaron, “Take a jar and put an omerful of manna in it, and place it before the LORD to be kept throughout your generations.”
Zu Aaron sagte Mose: Nimm ein Gefäß, schütte ein volles Gomer Manna hinein und stell es vor den HERRN! Es soll für die nachkommenden Generationen aufbewahrt werden.
As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it before the Testimony, to be kept.
Wie der HERR dem Mose befohlen hatte, stellte Aaron es vor das Bundeszeugnis, damit es dort aufbewahrt würde.
The sons of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.
Die Israeliten aßen vierzig Jahre lang Manna, bis sie in bewohntes Land kamen. Sie aßen Manna, bis sie die Grenze des Landes Kanaan erreichten.
