God Promises Action
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for under compulsion he will let them go, and under compulsion he will drive them out of his land.”

Der HERR antwortete Mose: »Bald wirst du sehen, was ich mit dem Pharao mache! Ich werde ihn dazu zwingen, mein Volk gehen zu lassen. Wenn er meine Macht zu spüren bekommt, wird er sogar froh sein, euch loszuwerden!«
God spoke further to Moses and said to him, “I am the LORD;
Gott sprach noch einmal zu Mose: »Ich bin der HERR!
and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name, LORD, I did not make Myself known to them.
Euren Vorfahren Abraham, Isaak und Jakob bin ich als der allmächtige Gott erschienen, aber meinen Namen ›der HERR‹ habe ich ihnen nicht offenbart.
“I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they sojourned.
Ich habe mit ihnen meinen Bund geschlossen und darin versprochen, ihnen das Land Kanaan zu geben, in dem sie als Fremde gelebt haben.
“Furthermore I have heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
Nun habe ich gehört, wie die Israeliten als Sklaven der Ägypter stöhnen. Ich habe an meinen Bund mit ihnen gedacht.
“Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
Darum richte den Israeliten aus: Ich bin der HERR! Ich will euch von eurer schweren Arbeit erlösen und euch von der Unterdrückung durch die Ägypter befreien. Mit starker Hand werde ich die Ägypter strafen und mein Urteil an ihnen vollstrecken. Euch aber werde ich retten.
‘Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
Ich nehme euch als mein Volk an, und ich will euer Gott sein. Ja, ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der HERR, euer Gott, bin, der euch aus der Sklaverei Ägyptens befreit!
‘I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the LORD.’”
Ich bringe euch in das Land, das ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob mit einem Eid versprochen habe. Ich will es euch schenken, denn ich bin der HERR!«
So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage.
Mose berichtete den Israeliten, was Gott zu ihm gesagt hatte, aber sie hörten nicht auf ihn. Sie waren erschöpft von der schweren Arbeit. Ihr Mut war gebrochen, ihre Hoffnung erloschen.
“Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the sons of Israel go out of his land.”
»Geh zum Pharao, dem König von Ägypten! Er soll die Israeliten aus dem Land ziehen lassen!«
But Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, “Behold, the sons of Israel have not listened to me; how then will Pharaoh listen to me, for I am unskilled in speech?”
»Ach, HERR«, wandte Mose ein, »wenn mir schon die Israeliten nicht geglaubt haben, wie sollte dann der Pharao auf mich hören? Ich bin einfach ein zu schlechter Redner!«
Then the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a charge to the sons of Israel and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
Doch der HERR sprach erneut mit Mose und Aaron und beauftragte sie, noch einmal mit den Israeliten und dem ägyptischen König zu reden; denn sie sollten das Volk Israel aus Ägypten herausführen.
The Heads of Israel
These are the heads of their fathers’ households. The sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben.
Dies sind die Sippenoberhäupter des Volkes Israel, die in Ägypten lebten: Ruben, der erstgeborene Sohn Israels, war der Vater von Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi. Von ihnen stammten vier Sippen ab, die sich nach ihnen nannten.
The sons of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin and Ohad and Jachin and Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the families of Simeon.
Die Sippen des Stammes Simeon gingen auf Simeons Söhne zurück: Jemuël, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Schaul, dessen Mutter eine Kanaaniterin war.
These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon and Kohath and Merari; and the length of Levi’s life was one hundred and thirty-seven years.
Die Söhne von Levi — in der Reihenfolge ihrer Geburt — waren: Gerschon, Kehat und Merari. Ihr Vater Levi wurde 137 Jahre alt.
The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, according to their families.
Gerschon hatte zwei Söhne: Libni und Schimi; von ihnen stammen die gleichnamigen Sippen ab.
The sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar and Hebron and Uzziel; and the length of Kohath’s life was one hundred and thirty-three years.
Kehats Söhne hießen Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiël. Kehat wurde 133 Jahre alt.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations.
Merari hatte zwei Söhne: Machli und Muschi. Dies waren die Sippen des Stammes Levi, nach ihrer Herkunft geordnet.
Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses; and the length of Amram’s life was one hundred and thirty-seven years.
Amram heiratete Jochebed, die Schwester seines Vaters; sie hatten zwei Söhne: Aaron und Mose. Amram wurde 137 Jahre alt.
The sons of Izhar: Korah and Nepheg and Zichri.
Jizhars Söhne hießen Korach, Nefeg und Sichri.
The sons of Uzziel: Mishael and Elzaphan and Sithri.
Usiëls Söhne waren Mischaël, Elizafan und Sitri.
Aaron married Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
Aaron heiratete Elischeba, die Tochter Amminadabs und Schwester Nachschons. Sie hatten vier Söhne: Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar.
The sons of Korah: Assir and Elkanah and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites.
Korachs Söhne waren Assir, Elkana und Abiasaf. Nach ihnen wurden die Sippen der Korachiter benannt.
Aaron’s son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites according to their families.
Aarons Sohn Eleasar heiratete eine Tochter Putiëls; sie hatten einen Sohn namens Pinhas. Dies waren die Familienoberhäupter der Leviten, nach Sippen geordnet.
It was the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “Bring out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their hosts.”
Mose und Aaron, die Söhne Amrams, waren es, denen der HERR befahl: »Führt die Israeliten aus Ägypten heraus, nach Stammesverbänden geordnet!«
They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing out the sons of Israel from Egypt; it was the same Moses and Aaron.
Diese beiden Männer redeten mit dem König von Ägypten, damit er die Israeliten freiließ.
Now it came about on the day when the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,
Der HERR sprach zu Mose in Ägypten:
that the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “I am the LORD; speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak to you.”
»Ich bin der HERR! Richte dem Pharao, dem König von Ägypten, alles aus, was ich dir sage!«
