Jeremiah’s Message for Zedekiah
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, saying,
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, saying,
Dies ist das Wort, so vom HERRN geschah zu Jeremia, da der König Zedekia zu ihm sandte Pashur, den Sohn Malchias, und Zephanja, den Sohn Maasejas, den Priester, und ließ ihm sagen:
“Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is warring against us; perhaps the LORD will deal with us according to all His wonderful acts, so that the enemy will withdraw from us.”
Frage doch den HERRN für uns. Denn Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, streitet wider uns; daß der HERR doch mit uns tun wolle nach allen seinen Wundern, damit er von uns abzöge.
Then Jeremiah said to them, “You shall say to Zedekiah as follows:
Jeremia sprach zu ihnen: So saget Zedekia:
‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel, “Behold, I am about to turn back the weapons of war which are in your hands, with which you are warring against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the wall; and I will gather them into the center of this city.
Das spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will die Waffen zurückwenden, die ihr in euren Händen habt, womit ihr streitet wider den König zu Babel und wider die Chaldäer, welche euch draußen an der Mauer belagert haben; und will sie zuhauf sammeln mitten in dieser Stadt.
“I Myself will war against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm, even in anger and wrath and great indignation.
Und ich will wider euch streiten mit ausgereckter Hand, mit starkem Arm, mit Zorn, Grimm und großer Ungnade.
“I will also strike down the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they will die of a great pestilence.
Und ich will die Bürger dieser Stadt schlagen, die Menschen und das Vieh, daß sie sterben sollen durch eine große Pestilenz.
“Then afterwards,” declares the LORD, “I will give over Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even those who survive in this city from the pestilence, the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their foes and into the hand of those who seek their lives; and he will strike them down with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.”’
Und darnach, spricht der HERR, will ich Zedekia, den König Juda’s, samt seinen Knechten und dem Volk, das in dieser Stadt vor der Pestilenz, vor Schwert und Hunger übrigbleiben wird, geben in die Hände Nebukadnezars, des Königs zu Babel, und in die Hände ihrer Feinde, und in die Hände derer, die ihnen nach dem Leben stehen, daß er sie mit der Schärfe des Schwerts also schlage, daß kein Schonen noch Gnade noch Barmherzigkeit da sei.
“You shall also say to this people, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.
Und sage diesem Volk: So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich lege euch vor den Weg zum Leben und den Weg zum Tode.
“He who dwells in this city will die by the sword and by famine and by pestilence; but he who goes out and falls away to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live, and he will have his own life as booty.
Wer in dieser Stadt bleibt, der wird sterben müssen durch Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz; wer aber sich hinausbegibt zu den Chaldäern, die euch belagern, der soll lebendig bleiben und soll sein Leben als eine Ausbeute behalten.
“For I have set My face against this city for harm and not for good,” declares the LORD. “It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.”’
Denn ich habe mein Angesicht über diese Stadt gerichtet zum Unglück und zu keinem Guten, spricht der HERR. Sie soll dem König zu Babel übergeben werden, daß er sie mit Feuer verbrenne.
“Then say to the household of the king of Judah, ‘Hear the word of the LORD,
Und höret des HERRN Wort, ihr vom Hause des Königs in Juda!
O house of David, thus says the LORD:
“Administer justice every morning;
And deliver the person who has been robbed from the power of his oppressor,
That My wrath may not go forth like fire
And burn with none to extinguish it,
Because of the evil of their deeds.

Du Haus David, so spricht der HERR: Haltet des Morgens Gericht und errettet die Beraubten aus des Frevlers Hand, auf daß mein Grimm nicht ausfahre wie ein Feuer und brenne also, das niemand löschen könne, um eures bösen Wesens willen.
“Behold, I am against you, O valley dweller,
O rocky plain,” declares the LORD,
“You men who say, ‘Who will come down against us?
Or who will enter into our habitations?’

Siehe, spricht der HERR, ich will an dich, die du wohnest im Grunde, auf dem Felsen der Ebene und sprichst: Wer will uns überfallen oder in unsre Feste kommen?
“But I will punish you according to the results of your deeds,” declares the LORD,
“And I will kindle a fire in its forest
That it may devour all its environs.”’”

Ich will euch heimsuchen, spricht der HERR, nach der Frucht eures Tuns; ich will ein Feuer anzünden in ihrem Walde, das soll alles umher verzehren.
