Lament over Egypt
The word of the LORD came again to me saying,

Noch einmal empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
“Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,
“Wail, ‘Alas for the day!’
“Wail, ‘Alas for the day!’
»Du Mensch, verkünde meine Worte, gib weiter, was ich, Gott, der HERR, zu sagen habe: Jammert und schreit, denn es kommt ein Tag des Schreckens!
“For the day is near,
Even the day of the LORD is near;
It will be a day of clouds,
A time of doom for the nations.

Er ist schon nah, dunkle Wolken ziehen auf, denn ich, der HERR, werde Gericht halten über die Völker!
“A sword will come upon Egypt,
And anguish will be in Ethiopia;
When the slain fall in Egypt,
They take away her wealth,
And her foundations are torn down.

Mein Schwert trifft Ägypten und metzelt die Menschen dort nieder. Alle Schätze des Landes werden geplündert und die Städte bis auf die Grundmauern niedergerissen. Die Äthiopier zittern vor Entsetzen,
“Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya and the people of the land that is in league will fall with them by the sword.”
denn das Schwert durchbohrt auch die Söldner aus ihrem Land, zusammen mit denen aus Libyen, Lydien und Kub. Mit den Ägyptern werden auch die Soldaten aus dem Volk sterben, mit dem ich einst meinen Bund schloss.
‘Thus says the LORD,
“Indeed, those who support Egypt will fall
And the pride of her power will come down;
From Migdol to Syene
They will fall within her by the sword,”
Declares the Lord GOD.

Ich, Gott, der HERR, gebe mein Wort: Alle, die Ägypten geholfen haben, werden getötet. Dann sind der Stolz und die Macht dieses Landes gebrochen; überall liegen die Gefallenen, von Migdol im Norden bis nach Syene im Süden.

Ägypten wird verwüstet werden wie noch nie ein Land auf der Welt, seine Städte werden zerstört sein wie keine andere Stadt.
“And they will know that I am the LORD,
When I set a fire in Egypt
And all her helpers are broken.

Wenn ich das Land niederbrenne und alle seine Helfer zerschmettere, dann sollen die Ägypter erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
“On that day messengers will go forth from Me in ships to frighten secure Ethiopia; and anguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt; for behold, it comes!”
An jenem Tag sende ich Boten in Schiffen nilaufwärts zu den Äthiopiern, die sich so sicher fühlen. Wenn sie vom Untergang Ägyptens hören, zittern sie vor Entsetzen. Ja, dieser Tag kommt!

By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

Ich, Gott, der HERR, versichere euch: Ich mache Ägyptens Macht und Reichtum ein Ende durch Nebukadnezar, den König von Babylonien.
“He and his people with him,

Will be brought in to destroy the land;
And they will draw their swords against Egypt
And fill the land with the slain.

Unter seinem Befehl wird ein grausames Heer aus vielen Völkern das Land verwüsten und mit gezücktem Schwert über die Menschen herfallen. Dann wird alles mit Leichen übersät sein.
“Moreover, I will make the Nile canals dry
And sell the land into the hands of evil men.
And I will make the land desolate
And all that is in it,
By the hand of strangers; I the LORD have spoken.”

Die Nilarme lasse ich vertrocknen, und ganz Ägypten gebe ich in die Hand von Feinden, die kein Erbarmen kennen. Sie werden das Land und all seinen Reichtum zerstören. Darauf könnt ihr euch verlassen!

And there will no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt;
And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

Ich, Gott, der HERR, gebe mein Wort: Ich beseitige Ägyptens scheußliche Götzen und vernichte die falschen Götter von Memfis. Es wird keinen Herrscher mehr geben, überall im Land geht dann die Angst um.
“I will make Pathros desolate,
Set a fire in Zoan
And execute judgments on Thebes.

Ich werde Oberägypten verwüsten, Zoan in Brand stecken und das Gericht an Theben vollstrecken.
“I will pour out My wrath on Sin,
The stronghold of Egypt;
I will also cut off the hordes of Thebes.

I will also cut off the hordes of Thebes.
Sin, die stärkste Festung Ägyptens, bekommt meinen Zorn zu spüren, und vom ganzen Prunk Thebens lasse ich nichts mehr übrig.
“I will set a fire in Egypt;
Sin will writhe in anguish,
Thebes will be breached
And Memphis will have distresses daily.

Ägypten wird ein Raub der Flammen, Sin windet sich in Krämpfen, Theben wird erstürmt und Memfis am helllichten Tag von Feinden angegriffen.
“The young men of On and of Pi-beseth
Will fall by the sword,
And the women will go into captivity.
Will fall by the sword,

Die jungen Männer von Heliopolis und Bubastis fallen im Krieg, und die Einwohner dieser Städte müssen in die Gefangenschaft gehen.
“In Tehaphnehes the day will be dark
When I break there the yoke bars of Egypt.

A cloud will cover her,
And her daughters will go into captivity.

In Tachpanhes zerbreche ich Ägyptens Kraft, ich bereite der Macht, auf die das Land so stolz ist, ein Ende. Dunkle Wolken ziehen über der Stadt auf, die Nacht bricht herein, und die Einwohner aller umliegenden Orte werden verschleppt.

So vollstrecke ich mein Urteil an den Ägyptern, damit sie erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.«
Victory for Babylon
In the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
Im 11. Jahr unserer Verbannung, am 7. Tag des 1. Monats, gab der HERR mir noch eine Botschaft. Er sprach zu mir:
“Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, behold, it has not been bound up for healing or wrapped with a bandage, that it may be strong to hold the sword.
»Du Mensch, ich habe dem Pharao, dem König von Ägypten, den Arm gebrochen. Niemand hat ihn verbunden oder in eine Schlinge gelegt, er wird nicht heilen und nie wieder stark genug sein, ein Schwert zu halten.
“Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt and will break his arms, both the strong and the broken; and I will make the sword fall from his hand.
Ich, Gott, der HERR, sage: Ich bin mit dem Pharao noch nicht fertig! Ich breche ihm auch noch den anderen Arm und schlage ihm das Schwert aus der Hand.
‘I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands.
Die Ägypter jage ich fort und zerstreue sie in aller Herren Länder.
‘For I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put My sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, so that he will groan before him with the groanings of a wounded man.
Die Arme des Königs von Babylonien aber mache ich stark und gebe ihm mein Schwert in die Hand. Mit gebrochenen Armen wird der Pharao sich vor seinem Feind winden und stöhnen wie ein tödlich Verwundeter.
‘Thus I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt.
Ja, ich breche seine Macht, den König von Babylonien aber mache ich stark. Wenn ich mein Schwert in seine Hand gebe und er Ägypten damit schlägt, dann sollen die Menschen dort erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
