Punishment for Wickedness Foretold
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
Und des HERRN Wort geschah zu mir und sprach:
“And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel, ‘An end! The end is coming on the four corners of the land.
Du Menschenkind, so spricht der HERR HERR vom Lande Israel: Das Ende kommt, das Ende über alle vier Örter des Landes.
‘Now the end is upon you, and I will send My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways and bring all your abominations upon you.
Nun kommt das Ende über dich; denn ich will meinen Grimm über dich senden und will dich richten, wie du verdient hast, und will dir geben, was allen deinen Greueln gebührt.
‘For My eye will have no pity on you, nor will I spare you, but I will bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be among you; then you will know that I am the LORD!’
Mein Auge soll dein nicht schonen noch übersehen; sondern ich will dir geben, wie du verdient hast, und deine Greuel sollen unter dich kommen, daß ihr erfahren sollt, ich sei der HERR.
“Thus says the Lord GOD, ‘A disaster, unique disaster, behold it is coming!
So spricht der HERR HERR: Siehe, es kommt ein Unglück über das andere!
‘An end is coming; the end has come! It has awakened against you; behold, it has come!
Das Ende kommt, es kommt das Ende, es ist erwacht über dich; siehe, es kommt!
‘Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land. The time has come, the day is near — tumult rather than joyful shouting on the mountains.
Es geht schon auf und bricht daher über dich, du Einwohner des Landes; die Zeit kommt, der Tag des Jammers ist nahe, da kein Singen auf den Bergen sein wird.
‘Now I will shortly pour out My wrath on you and spend My anger against you; judge you according to your ways and bring on you all your abominations.
Nun will ich bald meinen Grimm über dich schütten und meinen Zorn an dir vollenden und will dich richten, wie du verdient hast, und dir geben, was deinen Greueln allen gebührt.
‘My eye will show no pity nor will I spare. I will repay you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst; then you will know that I, the LORD, do the smiting.
Mein Auge soll dein nicht schonen, und ich will nicht gnädig sein; sondern will dir geben, wie du verdient hast, und deine Greuel sollen unter dich kommen, daß ihr erfahren sollt, ich sei der HERR, der euch schlägt.
‘Behold, the day! Behold, it is coming! Your doom has gone forth; the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed.
Siehe, der Tag, siehe, er kommt daher, er bricht an; die Rute blüht, und der Stolze grünt.
‘Violence has grown into a rod of wickedness. None of them shall remain, none of their people, none of their wealth, nor anything eminent among them.
Der Tyrann hat sich aufgemacht zur Rute über die Gottlosen, daß nichts von ihnen noch von ihrem Volk noch von ihrem Haufen Trost haben wird.
‘The time has come, the day has arrived. Let not the buyer rejoice nor the seller mourn; for wrath is against all their multitude.
Es kommt die Zeit, der Tag naht herzu! Der Käufer freue sich nicht, und der Verkäufer traure nicht; denn es kommt der Zorn über all ihren Haufen.
‘Indeed, the seller will not regain what he sold as long as they both live; for the vision regarding all their multitude will not be averted, nor will any of them maintain his life by his iniquity.
Darum soll der Verkäufer nach seinem verkauften Gut nicht wieder trachten; denn wer da lebt, der wird’s haben. Denn die Weissagung über all ihren Haufen wird nicht zurückkehren; keiner wird sein Leben erhalten, um seiner Missetat willen.
‘They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but no one is going to the battle, for My wrath is against all their multitude.
Laßt sie die Posaune nur blasen und alles zurüsten, es wird doch niemand in den Krieg ziehen; denn mein Grimm geht über all ihren Haufen.
‘The sword is outside and the plague and the famine are within. He who is in the field will die by the sword; famine and the plague will also consume those in the city.
Draußen geht das Schwert; drinnen geht Pestilenz und Hunger. Wer auf dem Felde ist, der wird vom Schwert sterben; wer aber in der Stadt ist, den wird Pestilenz und Hunger fressen.
‘Even when their survivors escape, they will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, each over his own iniquity.
Und welche unter ihnen entrinnen, die müssen auf dem Gebirge sein und wie die Tauben in den Gründen, die alle untereinander girren, ein jeglicher um seiner Missetat willen.
‘All hands will hang limp and all knees will become like water.
Aller Hände werden dahinsinken, und aller Kniee werden so ungewiß stehen wie Wasser;
‘They will gird themselves with sackcloth and shuddering will overwhelm them; and shame will be on all faces and baldness on all their heads.
und sie werden Säcke um sich gürten und mit Furcht überschüttet sein, und aller Angesichter werden jämmerlich sehen und aller Häupter kahl sein.
‘They will fling their silver into the streets and their gold will become an abhorrent thing; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their appetite nor can they fill their stomachs, for their iniquity has become an occasion of stumbling.
Sie werden ihr Silber hinaus auf die Gassen werfen und ihr Gold wie Unflat achten; denn ihr Silber und Gold wird sie nicht erretten am Tage des Zorns des HERRN. Und sie werden ihre Seele davon nicht sättigen noch ihren Bauch davon füllen; denn es ist ihnen gewesen ein Anstoß zu ihrer Missetat.
The Temple Profaned
‘They transformed the beauty of His ornaments into pride, and they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things with it; therefore I will make it an abhorrent thing to them.
Sie haben aus ihren edlen Kleinoden, damit sie Hoffart trieben, Bilder ihrer Greuel und Scheuel gemacht; darum will ich’s ihnen zum Unflat machen
‘I will give it into the hands of the foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane it.
und will’s Fremden in die Hände geben, daß sie es rauben, und den Gottlosen auf Erden zur Ausbeute, daß sie es entheiligen sollen.
‘I will also turn My face from them, and they will profane My secret place; then robbers will enter and profane it.
Ich will mein Angesicht davon kehren, daß sie meinen Schatz entheiligen; ja, Räuber sollen darüber kommen und es entheiligen.
‘Make the chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes and the city is full of violence.
Mache Ketten; denn das Land ist voll Blutschulden und die Stadt voll Frevels.
‘Therefore, I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will possess their houses. I will also make the pride of the strong ones cease, and their holy places will be profaned.
So will ich die Ärgsten unter den Heiden kommen lassen, daß sie sollen ihre Häuser einnehmen, und will der Hoffart der Gewaltigen ein Ende machen und ihre Heiligtümer entheiligen.
‘When anguish comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none.
Der Ausrotter kommt; da werden sie Frieden suchen, und wird keiner dasein.
‘Disaster will come upon disaster and rumor will be added to rumor; then they will seek a vision from a prophet, but the law will be lost from the priest and counsel from the elders.
Ein Unfall wird über den andern kommen, ein Gerücht über das andere. So werden sie dann ein Gesicht bei den Propheten suchen; auch wird weder Gesetz bei den Priestern noch Rat bei den Alten mehr sein.
‘The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with horror, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. According to their conduct I will deal with them, and by their judgments I will judge them. And they will know that I am the LORD.’”
Der König wird betrübt sein, und die Fürsten werden in Entsetzen gekleidet sein, und die Hände des Volks im Lande werden verzagt sein. Ich will mit ihnen umgehen, wie sie gelebt haben, und will sie richten, wie sie verdient haben, daß sie erfahren sollen, ich sei der HERR.
