Nach dem Tod der beiden Söhne Aarons, die dem HERRN eigenmächtig ein Räucheropfer dargebracht hatten,
The LORD said to Moses:
“Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.

sprach der HERR zu Mose: »Sag deinem Bruder Aaron, dass er nur zu festgesetzten Zeiten das Allerheiligste im heiligen Zelt betreten und sich dort vor die Deckplatte der Bundeslade stellen darf. Hält er sich nicht daran, muss er sterben! Denn ich, der HERR, erscheine in einer Wolke über der Deckplatte.
“Aaron shall enter the holy place with this: with a bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.
Aaron darf nur ins Allerheiligste gehen, wenn er sich genau an folgende Anweisungen hält: Er soll einen jungen Stier für das Sündopfer und einen Schafbock für das Brandopfer darbringen.
“He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and the linen undergarments shall be next to his body, and he shall be girded with the linen sash and attired with the linen turban (these are holy garments). Then he shall bathe his body in water and put them on.
Vorher wäscht er sich und zieht die heiligen Priesterkleider an: das Gewand, die Hose, den Gürtel und den Turban, alles aus Leinen.
“He shall take from the congregation of the sons of Israel two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering.
Die Israeliten sollen ihm zwei Ziegenböcke für das Sündopfer und einen Schafbock für das Brandopfer geben.
“Then Aaron shall offer the bull for the sin offering which is for himself, that he may make atonement for himself and for his household.
Erst bringt er den jungen Stier als Sündopfer für sich selbst und für seine Familie dar,
“He shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting.
dann führt er die beiden Ziegenböcke an den Eingang des heiligen Zeltes, in meine Gegenwart.
“Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat.
Durch das Los wird entschieden, welcher der beiden für mich, den HERRN, und welcher für Asasel bestimmt ist.
“Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for the LORD fell, and make it a sin offering.
Den Ziegenbock, der mir gehört, bringt Aaron als Sündopfer dar.
“But the goat on which the lot for the scapegoat fell shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make atonement upon it, to send it into the wilderness as the scapegoat.
Der andere Bock, der durch das Los dem Asasel zugefallen ist, wird zum Heiligtum gebracht. Von dort aus soll er in die Wüste zu Asasel geschickt werden, damit das Volk mit mir versöhnt wird.
“Then Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering which is for himself and make atonement for himself and for his household, and he shall slaughter the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.
Zuvor aber muss Aaron den jungen Stier als Sündopfer darbringen, damit er und seine Familie von aller Schuld befreit werden. Wenn er das Tier geschlachtet hat,
“He shall take a firepan full of coals of fire from upon the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground sweet incense, and bring it inside the veil.
nimmt er eine Räucherpfanne voll glühender Kohlen vom Altar im heiligen Zelt und zwei Handvoll zerstoßene, wohlriechende Weihrauchmischung. Dies alles bringt er hinter den inneren Vorhang des Zeltes ins Allerheiligste.
“He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the ark of the testimony, otherwise he will die.
Dort, in meiner Gegenwart, legt er die Weihrauchmischung auf die glühenden Kohlen. Der aufsteigende Rauch verhüllt die Deckplatte auf der Bundeslade, so dass Aaron sie nicht sieht und nicht sterben muss.
“Moreover, he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; also in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
Er taucht einen Finger in das Blut des jungen Stieres und sprengt etwas davon auf die Vorderseite der Deckplatte sowie siebenmal vor der Deckplatte auf den Boden.
“Then he shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering which is for the people, and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat.
Dann schlachtet er den Ziegenbock für das Sündopfer des Volkes, bringt das Blut ins Allerheiligste und sprengt es auf die Deckplatte und davor auf den Boden, wie er es mit dem Blut des jungen Stieres getan hat.
“He shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the impurities of the sons of Israel and because of their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and thus he shall do for the tent of meeting which abides with them in the midst of their impurities.
So befreit er das Allerheiligste von aller Unreinheit und von aller Schuld, die das Volk Israel auf sich geladen hat. Auch das Äußere des heiligen Zeltes reinigt er auf diese Weise; denn es steht mitten im Lager, das die Israeliten durch ihre Sünden immer wieder unrein machen.
“When he goes in to make atonement in the holy place, no one shall be in the tent of meeting until he comes out, that he may make atonement for himself and for his household and for all the assembly of Israel.
Kein Mensch darf sich im heiligen Zelt aufhalten, wenn Aaron hineingeht, um sich, seine Familie und die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten mit mir, dem Herrn, zu versöhnen.
“Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the blood of the goat and put it on the horns of the altar on all sides.
Anschließend verlässt Aaron das Allerheiligste, geht zum Altar des Heiligtums und befreit ihn von aller Schuld, die auf ihm lastet. Dazu streicht er etwas vom Blut des jungen Stieres und des Ziegenbocks an die Hörner des Altars.
“With his finger he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times and cleanse it, and from the impurities of the sons of Israel consecrate it.
Mit dem Finger sprengt er siebenmal Blut an den Altar und reinigt ihn so von den Sünden der Israeliten, damit er wieder heilig ist.
“When he finishes atoning for the holy place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall offer the live goat.
Wenn Aaron das Allerheiligste und das Heiligtum sowie den Altar gereinigt hat, holt er den zweiten Ziegenbock,
“Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and he shall lay them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who stands in readiness.
legt die Hände auf seinen Kopf und bekennt alle Vergehen und alle Schuld des Volkes. So lädt er die Sünden der Israeliten auf den Kopf des Ziegenbocks und lässt ihn durch einen Mann, den er dazu bestimmt hat, in die Wüste treiben.
“The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to a solitary land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness.
Der Ziegenbock trägt alle Schuld mit sich hinaus in die Wüste.
“Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there.
Aaron geht nun wieder zum heiligen Zelt, zieht seine Leinengewänder aus, in denen er das Heiligtum betrat, und lässt sie dort zurück.
“He shall bathe his body with water in a holy place and put on his clothes, and come forth and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people and make atonement for himself and for the people.
Er wäscht sich, zieht die Amtskleidung des Hohenpriesters an, geht hinaus und bringt das Brandopfer für sich und für das Volk dar. So wird ganz Israel wieder mit mir, dem Herrn, versöhnt.
“Then he shall offer up in smoke the fat of the sin offering on the altar.
Auch die Fettstücke der Sündopfertiere verbrennt er auf dem Altar.
“The one who released the goat as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes and bathe his body with water; then afterward he shall come into the camp.
Der Mann, der den Ziegenbock für Asasel fortgetrieben hat, darf erst wieder ins Lager zurückkehren, wenn er sich und seine Kleider gewaschen hat.
“But the bull of the sin offering and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall be taken outside the camp, and they shall burn their hides, their flesh, and their refuse in the fire.
Den jungen Stier und den Ziegenbock, die als Sündopfer dargebracht wurden und deren Blut versprengt wurde, um das Heiligtum von aller Unreinheit zu befreien, soll man hinaus vor das Lager bringen. Dort müssen sie vollständig verbrannt werden, mit Fell, Fleisch und Eingeweiden.
“Then the one who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body with water, then afterward he shall come into the camp.
Jeder, der daran beteiligt ist, darf erst wieder ins Lager zurückkehren, wenn er sich und seine Kleider gewaschen hat.
An Annual Atonement
“This shall be a permanent statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble your souls and not do any work, whether the native, or the alien who sojourns among you;
Dies alles soll am 10. Tag des 7. Monats geschehen. Zusätzlich gelten für diesen Tag noch folgende Ordnungen, die ihr stets einhalten müsst: Ihr sollt fasten und euch vor mir beugen. Ihr dürft keinerlei Arbeit verrichten, weder ihr noch die Ausländer, die bei euch wohnen.
for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
Denn an diesem Tag werdet ihr mit mir, dem HERRN, versöhnt und von aller Schuld befreit, die auf euch lastet.
“It is to be a sabbath of solemn rest for you, that you may humble your souls; it is a permanent statute.
Der ganze Tag muss ein besonderer Ruhetag sein, an dem ihr fasten und in Demut vor mich treten sollt. Haltet euch für alle Zeiten daran!
“So the priest who is anointed and ordained to serve as priest in his father’s place shall make atonement: he shall thus put on the linen garments, the holy garments,
Der Hohepriester, der als Nachfolger seines Vaters gesalbt und in sein Amt eingesetzt worden ist, soll diesen Versöhnungstag leiten. Dazu zieht er die heiligen Priestergewänder aus Leinen an.
and make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar. He shall also make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
Er befreit das Allerheiligste, das ganze heilige Zelt und den Altar von aller Schuld, ebenso die anderen Priester und die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten.
“Now you shall have this as a permanent statute, to make atonement for the sons of Israel for all their sins once every year.” And just as the LORD had commanded Moses, so he did.
Diese Ordnung soll bei euch für alle Zeiten gelten. Einmal im Jahr sollen alle Israeliten von ihren Sünden befreit werden.« Aaron führte alles so aus, wie der HERR es Mose befohlen hatte.
