Jesus Goes to Galilee

Jesus erfuhr, dass die Pharisäer gehört hatten, er gewinne und taufe mehr Jünger als Johannes —
(although Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His disciples were),
allerdings taufte nicht Jesus selbst, sondern seine Jünger — ;
He left Judea and went away again into Galilee.
daraufhin verließ er Judäa und ging wieder nach Galiläa.
So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph;
So kam er zu einer Stadt in Samarien, die Sychar hieß und nahe bei dem Grundstück lag, das Jakob seinem Sohn Josef vermacht hatte.
and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Dort befand sich der Jakobsbrunnen. Jesus war müde von der Reise und setzte sich daher an den Brunnen; es war um die sechste Stunde.
The Woman of Samaria
There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”
Da kam eine Frau aus Samarien, um Wasser zu schöpfen. Jesus sagte zu ihr: Gib mir zu trinken!
For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
Seine Jünger waren nämlich in die Stadt gegangen, um etwas zum Essen zu kaufen.
Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
Die Samariterin sagte zu ihm: Wie kannst du als Jude mich, eine Samariterin, um etwas zu trinken bitten? Die Juden verkehren nämlich nicht mit den Samaritern.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Jesus antwortete ihr: Wenn du wüsstest, worin die Gabe Gottes besteht und wer es ist, der zu dir sagt: Gib mir zu trinken!, dann hättest du ihn gebeten und er hätte dir lebendiges Wasser gegeben.
She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water?
Sie sagte zu ihm: Herr, du hast kein Schöpfgefäß und der Brunnen ist tief; woher hast du also das lebendige Wasser?
“You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?”
Bist du etwa größer als unser Vater Jakob, der uns den Brunnen gegeben und selbst daraus getrunken hat, wie seine Söhne und seine Herden?
Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again;
Jesus antwortete ihr: Wer von diesem Wasser trinkt, wird wieder Durst bekommen;
but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
wer aber von dem Wasser trinkt, das ich ihm geben werde, wird niemals mehr Durst haben; vielmehr wird das Wasser, das ich ihm gebe, in ihm zu einer Quelle werden, deren Wasser ins ewige Leben fließt.
The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.”
Da sagte die Frau zu ihm: Herr, gib mir dieses Wasser, damit ich keinen Durst mehr habe und nicht mehr hierherkommen muss, um Wasser zu schöpfen!
He said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.”
Er sagte zu ihr: Geh, ruf deinen Mann und komm wieder her!
The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’;
Die Frau antwortete: Ich habe keinen Mann. Jesus sagte zu ihr: Du hast richtig gesagt: Ich habe keinen Mann.
for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.”
Denn fünf Männer hast du gehabt und der, den du jetzt hast, ist nicht dein Mann. Damit hast du die Wahrheit gesagt.
The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
Die Frau sagte zu ihm: Herr, ich sehe, dass du ein Prophet bist.
“Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.”
Unsere Väter haben auf diesem Berg Gott angebetet; ihr aber sagt, in Jerusalem sei die Stätte, wo man anbeten muss.
Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
Jesus sprach zu ihr: Glaube mir, Frau, die Stunde kommt, zu der ihr weder auf diesem Berg noch in Jerusalem den Vater anbeten werdet.
“You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
Ihr betet an, was ihr nicht kennt, wir beten an, was wir kennen; denn das Heil kommt von den Juden.
“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
Aber die Stunde kommt und sie ist schon da, zu der die wahren Beter den Vater anbeten werden im Geist und in der Wahrheit; denn so will der Vater angebetet werden.
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Gott ist Geist und alle, die ihn anbeten, müssen im Geist und in der Wahrheit anbeten.
The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.”
Die Frau sagte zu ihm: Ich weiß, dass der Messias kommt, der Christus heißt. Wenn er kommt, wird er uns alles verkünden.
Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
Da sagte Jesus zu ihr: Ich bin es, der mit dir spricht.
At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?”
Inzwischen waren seine Jünger zurückgekommen. Sie wunderten sich, dass er mit einer Frau sprach, doch keiner sagte: Was suchst du? oder: Was redest du mit ihr?
So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men,
Die Frau ließ ihren Wasserkrug stehen, kehrte zurück in die Stadt und sagte zu den Leuten:
“Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?”
Kommt her, seht, da ist ein Mensch, der mir alles gesagt hat, was ich getan habe: Ist er vielleicht der Christus?
They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.
Da gingen sie aus der Stadt heraus und kamen zu ihm.
Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
Währenddessen baten ihn seine Jünger: Rabbi, iss!
But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”
Er aber sagte zu ihnen: Ich habe eine Speise zu essen, die ihr nicht kennt.
So the disciples were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?”
Da sagten die Jünger zueinander: Hat ihm jemand etwas zu essen gebracht?
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.
Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Meine Speise ist es, den Willen dessen zu tun, der mich gesandt hat, und sein Werk zu vollenden.
“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
Sagt ihr nicht: Noch vier Monate dauert es bis zur Ernte? Sieh, ich sage euch: Erhebt eure Augen und seht, dass die Felder schon weiß sind zur Ernte!
“Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
Schon empfängt der Schnitter seinen Lohn und sammelt Frucht für das ewige Leben, sodass sich der Sämann und der Schnitter gemeinsam freuen.
“For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’
Denn hier hat das Sprichwort recht: Einer sät und ein anderer erntet.
“I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”
Ich habe euch gesandt zu ernten, wofür ihr euch nicht abgemüht habt; andere haben sich abgemüht und euch ist ihre Mühe zugutegekommen.
The Samaritans
From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.”
Aus jener Stadt kamen viele Samariter zum Glauben an Jesus auf das Wort der Frau hin, die bezeugt hatte: Er hat mir alles gesagt, was ich getan habe.
So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
Als die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, bei ihnen zu bleiben; und er blieb dort zwei Tage.
Many more believed because of His word;
Und noch viel mehr Leute kamen zum Glauben an ihn aufgrund seiner eigenen Worte.
and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”
Und zu der Frau sagten sie: Nicht mehr aufgrund deiner Rede glauben wir, denn wir haben selbst gehört und wissen: Er ist wirklich der Retter der Welt.
After the two days He went forth from there into Galilee.
Nach diesen beiden Tagen ging er von dort nach Galiläa.
For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
Jesus selbst hatte nämlich bezeugt: Ein Prophet wird in seiner eigenen Heimat nicht geehrt.
So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves also went to the feast.
Als er nun nach Galiläa kam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer auf, weil sie alles gesehen hatten, was er in Jerusalem auf dem Fest getan hatte; denn auch sie waren zum Fest gekommen.
Healing a Nobleman’s Son
Therefore He came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a royal official whose son was sick at Capernaum.
Jesus kam wieder nach Kana in Galiläa, wo er das Wasser in Wein verwandelt hatte. In Kafarnaum lebte ein königlicher Beamter; dessen Sohn war krank.
When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was imploring Him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Als er hörte, dass Jesus von Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen war, suchte er ihn auf und bat ihn, herabzukommen und seinen Sohn zu heilen; denn er lag im Sterben.
So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.”
Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder seht, glaubt ihr nicht.
The royal official said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
Der Beamte bat ihn: Herr, komm herab, ehe mein Kind stirbt!
Jesus said to him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.
Jesus erwiderte ihm: Geh, dein Sohn lebt! Der Mann glaubte dem Wort, das Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte, und machte sich auf den Weg.
As he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his son was living.
Noch während er hinabging, kamen ihm seine Diener entgegen und sagten: Dein Junge lebt.
So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”
Da fragte er sie genau nach der Stunde, in der die Besserung eingetreten war. Sie antworteten: Gestern in der siebten Stunde ist das Fieber von ihm gewichen.
So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives”; and he himself believed and his whole household.
Da erkannte der Vater, dass es genau zu der Stunde war, als Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Dein Sohn lebt. Und er wurde gläubig mit seinem ganzen Haus.
