“AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU,
AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU.”
Behold, now is “THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,” behold, now is “THE DAY OF SALVATION” —

giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,
Und wir geben niemand irgend ein Ärgernis, auf daß unser Amt nicht verlästert werde;
but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,
sondern in allen Dingen beweisen wir uns als die Diener Gottes: in großer Geduld, in Trübsalen, in Nöten, in Ängsten,
in beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger,
in Schlägen, in Gefängnissen, in Aufruhren, in Arbeit, in Wachen, in Fasten,
in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love,
in Keuschheit, in Erkenntnis, in Langmut, in Freundlichkeit, in dem heiligen Geist, in ungefärbter Liebe,
in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,
in dem Wort der Wahrheit, in der Kraft Gottes, durch Waffen der Gerechtigkeit zur Rechten und zur Linken,
by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true;
durch Ehre und Schande, durch böse Gerüchte und gute Gerüchte: als die Verführer, und doch wahrhaftig;
as unknown yet well-known, as dying yet behold, we live; as punished yet not put to death,
als die Unbekannten, und doch bekannt; als die Sterbenden, und siehe, wir leben; als die Gezüchtigten, und doch nicht ertötet;
as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing yet possessing all things.
als die Traurigen, aber allezeit fröhlich; als die Armen, aber die doch viele reich machen; als die nichts innehaben, und doch alles haben.
Our mouth has spoken freely to you, O Corinthians, our heart is opened wide.
O ihr Korinther! unser Mund hat sich zu euch aufgetan, unser Herz ist weit.
You are not restrained by us, but you are restrained in your own affections.
Ihr habt nicht engen Raum in uns; aber eng ist’s in euren Herzen.
Now in a like exchange — I speak as to children — open wide to us also.
Ich rede mit euch als mit meinen Kindern, daß ihr euch auch also gegen mich stellet und werdet auch weit.
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
Ziehet nicht am fremden Joch mit den Ungläubigen. Denn was hat die Gerechtigkeit zu schaffen mit der Ungerechtigkeit? Was hat das Licht für Gemeinschaft mit der Finsternis?
Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
Wie stimmt Christus mit Belial? Oder was für ein Teil hat der Gläubige mit dem Ungläubigen?
Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM;
AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
“I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM;
AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
Was hat der Tempel Gottes für Gleichheit mit den Götzen? Ihr aber seid der Tempel des lebendigen Gottes; wie denn Gott spricht: «Ich will unter ihnen wohnen und unter ihnen wandeln und will ihr Gott sein, und sie sollen mein Volk sein.
