for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the Macedonians, namely, that Achaia has been prepared since last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them.
Eure Bereitschaft zu helfen ist mir ja bekannt. Ich habe euch deswegen in den mazedonischen Gemeinden schon gelobt und berichtet, dass ihr in der Provinz Achaja bereits im vorigen Jahr mit der Sammlung begonnen habt. Euer Beispiel hat viele angespornt.
But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, as I was saying, you may be prepared;
Ihr könnt jetzt beweisen, dass ich eure Hilfsbereitschaft richtig eingeschätzt habe. Damit eure Sammlung auch wirklich abgeschlossen wird, wie ich es überall erzählt habe, schicke ich diese Brüder zu euch.
otherwise if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we — not to speak of you — will be put to shame by this confidence.
Dann brauche ich den Leuten aus Mazedonien, wenn sie mit mir nach Korinth kommen, nicht beschämt einzugestehen, dass wir uns geirrt haben, weil ihr noch gar nicht so weit seid. Doch im Grunde müsstet ihr euch dann schämen.
So I thought it necessary to urge the brethren that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised bountiful gift, so that the same would be ready as a bountiful gift and not affected by covetousness.
Deshalb habe ich lieber die Brüder vorausgeschickt, damit sie dafür sorgen, dass die von euch zugesagte Spende auch wirklich bereitliegt. Es soll doch eine großzügige Gabe sein und kein Almosen von Geizhälsen.
Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Ich bin davon überzeugt: Wer wenig sät, der wird auch wenig ernten; wer aber viel sät, der wird auch viel ernten.
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
So soll jeder für sich selbst entscheiden, wie viel er geben will, und zwar freiwillig und nicht aus Pflichtgefühl. Denn Gott liebt den, der fröhlich gibt.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
Er kann euch so reich beschenken, ja, mit Gutem geradezu überschütten, dass ihr zu jeder Zeit alles habt, was ihr braucht, und mehr als das. So könnt ihr auch noch anderen auf verschiedenste Art und Weise Gutes tun.

Schon in der Heiligen Schrift heißt es ja von dem Mann, den Gott reich beschenkt hat: »Großzügig schenkt er den Bedürftigen, was sie brauchen; auf seine Barmherzigkeit kann man immer zählen.«
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;
Gott aber, der dem Sämann Saat und Brot schenkt, wird auch euch Saatgut geben. Er wird es wachsen lassen und dafür sorgen, dass das Gute, das ihr tut, Früchte trägt.
you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
Ihr werdet alles so reichlich haben, dass ihr unbesorgt weitergeben könnt. Wenn wir dann eure Gabe überbringen, werden viele Menschen Gott dafür danken.
For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.
Eure Gabe hätte demnach zwei gute Auswirkungen: Sie wäre nicht nur eine Hilfe für die notleidenden Christen in Jerusalem, sie würde auch bewirken, dass viele Menschen Gott danken.
Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all,
Durch eure Unterstützung zeigt sich, wie sich euer Glaube bewährt. Dann werden die Beschenkten Gott loben, weil ihr euch so treu zur rettenden Botschaft von Christus bekennt und so bereitwillig mit ihnen und mit allen anderen teilt.
while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.
Sie werden für euch beten und wären gern mit euch zusammen, weil sich an euch die Gnade Gottes auf so wunderbare Weise gezeigt hat.
