Walk by the Spirit

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

So bestehet nun in der Freiheit, zu der uns Christus befreit hat, und lasset euch nicht wiederum in das knechtische Joch fangen.

Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Siehe, ich, Paulus, sage euch: Wo ihr euch beschneiden lasset, so nützt euch Christus nichts.

And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.

Ich bezeuge abermals einem jeden, der sich beschneiden läßt, daß er das ganze Gesetz schuldig ist zu tun.

You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Ihr habt Christum verloren, die ihr durch das Gesetz gerecht werden wollt, und seid von der Gnade gefallen.

For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.

Wir aber warten im Geist durch den Glauben der Gerechtigkeit, auf die man hoffen muß.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

Denn in Christo Jesu gilt weder Beschneidung noch unbeschnitten sein etwas, sondern der Glaube, der durch die Liebe tätig ist.

You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?

Ihr liefet fein. Wer hat euch aufgehalten, der Wahrheit nicht zu gehorchen?

This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you.

Solch Überreden ist nicht von dem, der euch berufen hat.

A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.

Ein wenig Sauerteig versäuert den ganzen Teig.

I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.

Ich versehe mich zu euch in dem HERRN, ihr werdet nicht anders gesinnt sein. Wer euch aber irremacht, der wird sein Urteil tragen, er sei, wer er wolle.

But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.

Ich aber, liebe Brüder, so ich die Beschneidung noch predige, warum leide ich denn Verfolgung? So hätte ja das Ärgernis des Kreuzes aufgehört.

I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.

Wollte Gott, daß sie auch ausgerottet würden, die euch verstören!

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Ihr aber, liebe Brüder, seid zur Freiheit berufen! Allein sehet zu, daß ihr durch die Freiheit dem Fleisch nicht Raum gebet; sondern durch die Liebe diene einer dem andern.

For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

Denn alle Gesetze werden in einem Wort erfüllt, in dem: «Liebe deinen Nächsten wie dich selbst.

But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.

So ihr euch aber untereinander beißet und fresset, so sehet zu, daß ihr nicht untereinander verzehrt werdet.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

Ich sage aber: Wandelt im Geist, so werdet ihr die Lüste des Fleisches nicht vollbringen.

For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

Denn das Fleisch gelüstet wider den Geist, und den Geist wider das Fleisch; dieselben sind widereinander, daß ihr nicht tut, was ihr wollt.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

Regiert euch aber der Geist, so seid ihr nicht unter dem Gesetz.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,

Offenbar sind aber die Werke des Fleisches, als da sind: Ehebruch, Hurerei, Unreinigkeit, Unzucht,

idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,

Abgötterei, Zauberei, Feindschaft, Hader, Neid, Zorn, Zank, Zwietracht, Rotten, Haß, Mord,

envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Saufen, Fressen und dergleichen, von welchen ich euch habe zuvor gesagt und sage noch zuvor, daß, die solches tun, werden das Reich Gottes nicht erben.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Die Frucht aber des Geistes ist Liebe, Freude, Friede, Geduld, Freundlichkeit, Gütigkeit, Glaube, Sanftmut, Keuschheit.

gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Wider solche ist das Gesetz nicht.

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Welche aber Christo angehören, die kreuzigen ihr Fleisch samt den Lüsten und Begierden.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

So wir im Geist leben, so lasset uns auch im Geist wandeln.

Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

Lasset uns nicht eitler Ehre geizig sein, einander zu entrüsten und zu hassen.
