Hannah’s Song of Thanksgiving
Then Hannah prayed and said,
“My heart exults in the LORD;
My horn is exalted in the LORD,
My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies,
Because I rejoice in Your salvation.

Hanna betete. Sie sagte: Mein Herz ist voll Freude über den HERRN, erhöht ist meine Macht durch den HERRN. Weit öffnet sich mein Mund gegen meine Feinde; denn ich freue mich über deine Hilfe.
“There is no one holy like the LORD,
Indeed, there is no one besides You,
Nor is there any rock like our God.
Indeed, there is no one besides You,

Keiner ist heilig wie der HERR; denn außer dir ist keiner; keiner ist ein Fels wie unser Gott.
“Boast no more so very proudly,
Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth;
For the LORD is a God of knowledge,
And with Him actions are weighed.

Redet nicht immer vermessen, kein freches Wort komme aus eurem Mund; denn der HERR ist ein wissender Gott und bei ihm werden die Taten geprüft.
“The bows of the mighty are shattered,
But the feeble gird on strength.

Der Bogen der Helden wird zerbrochen, die Wankenden aber gürten sich mit Kraft.
“Those who were full hire themselves out for bread,
But those who were hungry cease to hunger.
Even the barren gives birth to seven,
But she who has many children languishes.

Die Satten verdingen sich um Brot und die Hungrigen gibt es nicht mehr. Die Unfruchtbare bekommt sieben Kinder und die Kinderreiche welkt dahin.
“The LORD kills and makes alive;

Der HERR macht tot und lebendig, er führt zum Totenreich hinab und führt auch herauf.

Der HERR macht arm und macht reich, er erniedrigt und er erhöht.

Den Schwachen hebt er empor aus dem Staub und erhöht den Armen, der im Schmutz liegt; er gibt ihm einen Sitz bei den Edlen, einen Ehrenplatz weist er ihm zu. Ja, dem HERRN gehören die Pfeiler der Erde; auf sie hat er den Erdkreis gegründet.
“He keeps the feet of His godly ones,

Er behütet die Schritte seiner Frommen, doch die Frevler verstummen in der Finsternis; denn der Mensch ist nicht stark aus eigener Kraft.

And He will give strength to His king,

Wer gegen den HERRN streitet, wird zerbrechen; über ihn lässt er es am Himmel donnern. Der HERR hält Gericht bis an die Grenzen der Erde. Seinem König gebe er Kraft und erhöhe die Macht seines Gesalbten.
Then Elkanah went to his home at Ramah. But the boy ministered to the LORD before Eli the priest.
Darauf kehrte Elkana in sein Haus nach Rama zurück, der Knabe aber stand von da an im Dienst des HERRN unter der Aufsicht des Priesters Eli.
The Sin of Eli’s Sons
Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they did not know the LORD
Die Söhne Elis waren nichtsnutzige Menschen. Sie kannten weder den HERRN
and the custom of the priests with the people. When any man was offering a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come while the meat was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand.
noch das Recht der Priester gegenüber dem Volk: Sooft jemand ein Schlachtopfer darbrachte und das Fleisch kochte, kam ein Diener des Priesters mit einer dreizinkigen Gabel in der Hand.
Then he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fork brought up the priest would take for himself. Thus they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there.
Er stach in den Kessel oder den Topf, in das Becken oder die Schüssel und alles, was die Gabel heraufholte, nahm der Priester für sich. So machten sie es bei allen Israeliten, die dorthin, nach Schilo, kamen.
Also, before they burned the fat, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest meat for roasting, as he will not take boiled meat from you, only raw.”
Noch bevor man das Fett in Rauch aufgehen ließ, kam der Diener des Priesters und sagte zu dem Mann, der opferte: Gib mir Fleisch zum Braten für den Priester; er nimmt von dir aber kein gekochtes Fleisch an, sondern nur rohes.
If the man said to him, “They must surely burn the fat first, and then take as much as you desire,” then he would say, “No, but you shall give it to me now; and if not, I will take it by force.”
Wenn ihm der Mann erwiderte: Zuerst muss man doch das Fett in Rauch aufgehen lassen, dann nimm dir, was dein Herz begehrt!, sagte ihm der Diener: Nein, gib es sofort her, sonst nehme ich es mit Gewalt.
Thus the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD, for the men despised the offering of the LORD.
Die Sünde der jungen Männer war sehr schwer in den Augen des HERRN; denn sie behandelten das Opfer des HERRN mit Verachtung.
Samuel before the LORD as a Boy
Now Samuel was ministering before the LORD, as a boy wearing a linen ephod.
Der junge Samuel aber versah den Dienst vor dem Angesicht des HERRN, bekleidet mit dem leinenen Efod.
And his mother would make him a little robe and bring it to him from year to year when she would come up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
Seine Mutter machte ihm immer wieder ein kleines Obergewand und brachte es ihm jedes Jahr mit, wenn sie zusammen mit ihrem Mann hinaufzog, um das jährliche Opfer darzubringen.
Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, “May the LORD give you children from this woman in place of the one she dedicated to the LORD.” And they went to their own home.
Dann segnete Eli Elkana und seine Frau und sagte: Der HERR gebe dir für den, den er von dir erbeten hat, andere Nachkommenschaft von dieser Frau. Darauf gingen sie wieder in ihren Heimatort zurück.
The LORD visited Hannah; and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew before the LORD.
Der HERR aber nahm sich Hannas an; sie wurde schwanger und bekam noch drei Söhne und zwei Töchter. Der Knabe Samuel aber wuchs beim HERRN heran.
Eli Rebukes His Sons
Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting.
Eli war sehr alt geworden. Er hörte von allem, was seine Söhne allen Israeliten antaten, auch, dass sie mit den Frauen schliefen, die sich vor dem Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes aufhielten.
He said to them, “Why do you do such things, the evil things that I hear from all these people?

“No, my sons; for the report is not good which I hear the LORD’S people circulating.

“If one man sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the LORD desired to put them to death.
Wenn ein Mensch gegen einen Menschen sündigt, kann Gott Schiedsrichter sein. Wenn aber ein Mensch gegen den HERRN sündigt, wer kann dann für ihn eintreten? Aber sie hörten nicht auf die Stimme ihres Vaters; denn der HERR war entschlossen, sie umkommen zu lassen.
Now the boy Samuel was growing in stature and in favor both with the LORD and with men.
Der Knabe Samuel aber wuchs heran und gewann immer mehr an Gunst beim HERRN und auch bei den Menschen.
Then a man of God came to Eli and said to him, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Did I not indeed reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh’s house?
Da kam ein Gottesmann zu Eli und sagte zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Habe ich mich dem Haus deines Vaters nicht deutlich offenbart, als deine Vorfahren in Ägypten dem Haus des Pharao gehörten?
‘Did I not choose them from all the tribes of Israel to be My priests, to go up to My altar, to burn incense, to carry an ephod before Me; and did I not give to the house of your father all the fire offerings of the sons of Israel?
Ich habe sie aus allen Stämmen Israels für mich als Priester erwählt, damit sie zu meinem Altar hinaufgehen, das Räucheropfer darbringen und vor meinen Augen das Efod tragen. Auch habe ich dem Haus deines Vaters alle Feueropfer der Israeliten überlassen.
‘Why do you kick at My sacrifice and at My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling, and honor your sons above Me, by making yourselves fat with the choicest of every offering of My people Israel?’
Warum missachtet ihr Schlachtopfer und Speiseopfer, die ich für die Wohnung angeordnet habe? Warum ehrst du deine Söhne mehr als mich und warum mästet ihr euch mit dem Besten aller Gaben meines Volkes Israel?
“Therefore the LORD God of Israel declares, ‘I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father should walk before Me forever’; but now the LORD declares, ‘Far be it from Me — for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.
Darum — Spruch des HERRN, des Gottes Israels: Ich hatte fest zugesagt: Dein Haus und das Haus deines Vaters sollen für ewig vor meinem Angesicht ein- und ausgehen. Nun aber — Spruch des HERRN: Das sei fern von mir; denn nur die, die mich ehren, werde ich ehren, die aber, die mich verachten, geraten in Schande.
‘Behold, the days are coming when I will break your strength and the strength of your father’s house so that there will not be an old man in your house.
Es werden Tage kommen, da werde ich deinen Arm abhauen und die Macht deines Vaterhauses vernichten; in deinem Haus wird es keinen alten Mann mehr geben.
‘You will see the distress of My dwelling, in spite of all the good that I do for Israel; and an old man will not be in your house forever.
Du wirst einen Gegner in der Wohnung erblicken bei all dem Guten, das der HERR für Israel tun wird. Nie mehr wird es in deinem Haus einen alten Mann geben.
‘Yet I will not cut off every man of yours from My altar so that your eyes will fail from weeping and your soul grieve, and all the increase of your house will die in the prime of life.
Nur einen werde ich nicht wegreißen von meinem Altar, wenn ich deine Augen brechen und deine Seele verschmachten lasse; aber der ganze Nachwuchs deines Hauses wird im besten Mannesalter sterben.
‘This will be the sign to you which will come concerning your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas: on the same day both of them will die.
Und das soll das Zeichen sein, das sich an deinen beiden Söhnen Hofni und Pinhas verwirklichen wird: Beide werden an einem Tag sterben.
‘But I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who will do according to what is in My heart and in My soul; and I will build him an enduring house, and he will walk before My anointed always.
Ich aber werde mir einen zuverlässigen Priester einsetzen, der nach meinem Herzen und nach meinem Sinn handeln wird. Ich will ihm ein Haus bauen, das Bestand hat, und er wird allezeit vor den Augen meines Gesalbten seinen Dienst versehen.
‘Everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver or a loaf of bread and say, “Please assign me to one of the priest’s offices so that I may eat a piece of bread.”’”
Wer dann von deinem Haus noch übrig ist, wird kommen und sich um ein Geldstück oder einen Laib Brot vor ihm niederwerfen und sagen: Nimm mich doch in eine der Priestergruppen auf, damit ich ein Stück Brot zu essen habe!
