They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the Lord — the house called the tent of meeting.

The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south.
Es waren aber solche Torwächter gegen die vier Winde gestellt: gegen Morgen, gegen Abend, gegen Mitternacht, gegen Mittag.
Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day periods.

Das sind die Häupter der Vaterhäuser unter den Leviten in ihren Geschlechtern. Diese wohnten zu Jerusalem.

Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They too lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
Mikloth aber zeugte Simeam. Und sie wohnten auch ihren Brüdern gegenüber zu Jerusalem unter den Ihren.
Ner aber zeugte Kis. Kis zeugte Saul. Saul zeugte Jonathan, Malchisua, Abinadab, Esbaal.
Der Sohn aber Jonathans war Merib–Baal. Merib–Baal aber zeugte Micha.
Die Kinder Michas waren: Pithon, Melech und Tharea.
Ahas zeugte Jaera. Jaera zeugte Alemeth, Asmaveth und Simri. Simri zeugte Moza.
Moza was the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son and Azel his son.
