The Blessedness of Answered Prayer

A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David.

I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
And have not let my foes rejoice over me.

Ein Psalm, zu singen von der Einweihung des Hauses, von David.

O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.

Ich preise dich, HERR; denn du hast mich erhöht und lässest meine Feinde sich nicht über mich freuen.

O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, [a]that I should not go down to the pit.

( HERR, mein Gott, da ich schrie zu dir, machtest du mich gesund.

Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of [b]His holy name.

( HERR, du hast meine Seele aus der Hölle geführt; du hast mich lebend erhalten, da jene in die Grube fuhren.

For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But [c]joy comes in the morning.

(Ihr Heiligen, lobsinget dem HERRN; danket und preiset seine Heiligkeit!

Now in my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be [d]moved.”

(Denn sein Zorn währt einen Augenblick, und lebenslang seine Gnade; den Abend lang währt das Weinen, aber des Morgens ist Freude.

Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

Ich aber sprach, da mir’s wohl ging: Ich werde nimmermehr darniederliegen.

I cried out to You, O Lord;
And to the Lord I made supplication:

(Denn, HERR, durch dein Wohlgefallen hattest du meinen Berg stark gemacht; aber da du dein Antlitz verbargest, erschrak ich.

“What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your truth?

(Zu dir, HERR, rief ich, und zum HERRN flehte ich:

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper!”

Was ist nütze an meinem Blut, wenn ich zur Grube fahre? Wird dir auch der Staub danken und deine Treue verkündigen?

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off [e]my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

HERR, höre und sei mir gnädig! HERR, sei mein Helfer!

To the end that my [f]glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Du hast meine Klage verwandelt in einen Reigen; du hast mir meinen Sack ausgezogen und mich mit Freude gegürtet,
