    Assyria Will Invade the Land

    Moreover the Lord said to me, “Take a large scroll, and write on it with a man’s pen concerning [a]Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.

    Der HERR sagte zu mir: Nimm dir eine große Tafel und schreib darauf mit dem Griffel eines Menschen: Maher-Schalal-Hasch-Bas — Schnelle Beute-Rascher Raub — .

    And I will take for Myself faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”

    Dann will ich mir zuverlässige Zeugen bestellen, den Priester Urija und Secharja, den Sohn Jeberechjas.

    Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me, “Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;

    Dann nahte ich mich der Prophetin, sie wurde schwanger und gebar einen Sohn. Da sagte der HERR zu mir: Gib ihm den Namen Maher-Schalal-Hasch-Bas!

    for before the child [b]shall have knowledge to cry ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the [c]spoil of Samaria will be taken away before the king of Assyria.”

    Denn noch bevor der Knabe Vater und Mutter zu rufen versteht, wird man den Reichtum von Damaskus und die Beute von Samaria dem König von Assur vorantragen.

    The Lord also spoke to me again, saying:

    Der HERR sprach weiter zu mir und sagte:

    “Inasmuch as these people refused
    The waters of Shiloah that flow softly,
    And rejoice in Rezin and in Remaliah’s son;

    Weil dieses Volk die ruhig fließenden Wasser von Schiloach verachtet und Freude hat an Rezin und dem Sohn Remaljas,
  • 7
    Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them
    The waters of [d]the River, strong and mighty —
    The king of Assyria and all his glory;
    He will [e]go up over all his channels
    And go over all his banks.

    darum, siehe, lässt der Herr die gewaltigen und großen Wasser des Eufrat, den König von Assur und seine ganze Macht, über sie emporsteigen. Er wird über alle seine Kanäle steigen und über all seine Ufer treten.

    He will pass through Judah,
    He will overflow and pass over,
    He will reach up to the neck;
    And the stretching out of his wings
    Will [f]fill the breadth of Your land, O Immanuel.[g]

    Er wird über Juda dahinfahren, es überfluten und überschwemmen, bis zum Hals wird er reichen. Und seine ausgespannten Flügel füllen die Breite deines Landes, o Immanuel!

    “Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces!
    Give ear, all you from far countries.
    Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces;
    Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces.

    Tobt, ihr Völker! Ihr werdet doch zerschmettert. Horcht auf, ihr Enden der Erde! Rüstet nur! Ihr werdet doch zerschmettert. Rüstet! Ihr werdet zerschmettert.

    Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing;
    Speak the word, but it will not stand,
    For [h]God is with us.”

    Macht einen Plan! Er wird vereitelt. Verabredet eine Sache, sie kommt nicht zustande. Denn Gott ist mit uns.

    Fear God, Heed His Word

    For the Lord spoke thus to me with [i]a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:

    Denn so sprach der HERR zu mir — wie mit starker Hand — und verbot mir, auf dem Weg dieses Volkes zu gehen:
  • 12
    “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’
    Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy,
    Nor be afraid of their [j]threats, nor be [k]troubled.

    Nennt nicht alles Verschwörung, was dieses Volk Verschwörung nennt! Was es fürchtet, sollt ihr nicht fürchten; wovor es erschrickt, davor sollt ihr nicht erschrecken.

    The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow;
    Let Him be your fear,
    And let Him be your dread.
  • 13
    Den HERRN der Heerscharen sollt ihr heilig halten; vor ihm sollt ihr euch fürchten, vor ihm sollt ihr erschrecken.
  • 14
    He will be as a [l]sanctuary,
    But a stone of stumbling and a rock of [m]offense
    To both the houses of Israel,
    As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

    Er wird zum Heiligtum werden, zum Stein des Anstoßes und zum Felsen, an dem man strauchelt, für die beiden Häuser Israels: zum Netz und zum Fallstrick für die Bewohner Jerusalems.

    And many among them shall stumble;
    They shall fall and be broken,
    Be snared and [n]taken.”

    Viele werden darüber straucheln, fallen und zerschellen; sie werden sich verstricken und verfangen.

    Bind up the testimony,
    Seal the law among my disciples.

    Rolle das Zeugnis ein, versiegele die Weisung in meinen Jüngern!

    And I will wait on the Lord,
    Who hides His face from the house of Jacob;
    And I will hope in Him.

    Und ich werde auf den HERRN warten, der sein Angesicht vor dem Haus Jakob verbirgt, auf ihn werde ich hoffen.

    Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me!
    We are for signs and wonders in Israel
    From the Lord of hosts,
    Who dwells in Mount Zion.

    Siehe, ich und die Kinder, die der HERR mir gegeben hat, sind zu Zeichen und Mahnmalen in Israel geworden, vom HERRN der Heerscharen, der auf dem Berg Zion wohnt.

    And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?

    Und wenn sie zu euch sagen: Befragt die Totengeister und Zauberkundigen, die flüstern und murmeln: Soll ein Volk nicht seinen Gott befragen, zugunsten der Lebenden die Toten?

    To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there[o] is no light in them.

    Weisung und Bezeugung: Wer nicht diesem Wort entsprechend spricht, für den gibt es kein Morgenrot.

    They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse [p]their king and their God, and look upward.

    So wird man umherziehen, bedrückt und hungrig. Und wenn man Hunger leidet, wird man wütend und verwünscht seinen König und seinen Gott. Man wendet sich nach oben

    Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.

    und blickt zur Erde. Aber siehe: Not und Finsternis, dunkle Bedrängnis und in Finsternis ist man verstoßen!
