The Sign of Two Baskets of Figs
The Lord showed me, and there were two baskets of figs set before the temple of the Lord, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

Господь показав мені, і ось два коші́ фіґ стояли перед храмом Господнім, пото́му, як Навуходоно́сор, цар вавилонський, вигнав Єхонію, Єгоякимового сина, царя Юдиного, та правителів Юдських, і ма́йстра, і слю́саря з Єрусалиму, та й привів їх до Вавилону.
One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
Один кіш — фіґи дуже добрі, як фіґи першого врожа́ю, а один кіш — фіґи дуже злі, яких не їдять через їхню неприда́тність.
Then the Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?”
And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad.”
And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad.”
І промовив до мене Господь: Що́ ти бачиш, Єреміє? А я відказав: Фіґи. Фіґи добрі — дуже добрі, а злі — дуже злі, яких не їдять через їхню неприда́тність.
Так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: Як фіґи ці добрі, так оберну́ Я на добре вигна́нців Юдиних, яких Я послав із цього місця до кра́ю халдейського.
For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land; I will build them and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up.
І зверну́ Я Своє око на них на добро, і поверну́ їх до цього кра́ю, і збудую їх, а не розіб'ю́, і засаджу́ їх, а не ви́рву.
Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.
І дам Я їм серце пізнати Мене, що Я — Господь. І вони Мені будуть наро́дом, а Я буду їм Богом, бо вони наве́рнуться до Мене всім серцем своїм!
‘And as the bad figs which cannot be eaten, they are so bad’ — surely thus says the Lord — ‘so will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, his princes, the residue of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.
А як фіґи ті злі, яких не їдять через їхню непридатність, то так говорить Господь: За такого Я дам Седекі́ю, царя Юдиного, і його правителів та решту Єрусалиму, що залиши́лися в цьому кра́ї та що сидять у кра́ї єгипетському.
I will deliver them to trouble into all the kingdoms of the earth, for their harm, to be a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.
І дам їх за о́страх, на зло для всіх царств землі, на га́ньбу та за при́тчу, на глум та на прокля́ття в усіх тих місцях, куди ви́жену їх.
