“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.
der ganzen Gemeinschaft der Israeliten dies mitzuteilen: »Ihr sollt heilig sein, denn ich, der HERR, euer Gott, bin heilig!
‘Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God.
Jeder von euch soll seine Mutter und seinen Vater achten und den Sabbat als Ruhetag einhalten. Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott!
Ihr sollt euch nicht mit anderen Göttern einlassen und euch keine Götzenstatuen anfertigen, denn ich bin der HERR, euer Gott!
‘And if you offer a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord, you shall offer it of your own free will.
Wenn ihr mir ein Friedensopfer darbringt, dann tut es so, dass ich Gefallen an euch und eurem Opfer habe.
It shall be eaten the same day you offer it, and on the next day. And if any remains until the third day, it shall be burned in the fire.
Das Fleisch des Opfertieres müsst ihr am selben oder am folgenden Tag verzehren. Was am dritten Tag noch übrig ist, muss verbrannt werden,
And if it is eaten at all on the third day, it is an abomination. It shall not be accepted.
denn dann ist es unrein. Wenn doch noch jemand davon isst, nehme ich das Opfer nicht an.
Therefore everyone who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned the hallowed offering of the Lord; and that person shall be cut off from his people.
Er muss die Folgen tragen, denn er hat etwas entweiht, das für mich, den HERRN, bestimmt war und somit heilig ist. Er hat sein Leben verwirkt und muss aus dem Volk ausgeschlossen werden.
‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.
Wenn ihr in eurem Land die Getreideernte einbringt, dann sollt ihr eure Felder nicht ganz bis an den Rand abmähen und keine Nachlese halten.
And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God.
Auch in euren Weinbergen soll es keine Nachlese geben. Sammelt die Trauben am Boden nicht ein, sondern überlasst sie den Armen und Fremden! Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott.
‘You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.
Ihr sollt nicht stehlen, nicht lügen und einander nicht betrügen!
And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.
Wenn ihr bei meinem Namen schwört, sollt ihr ihn nicht durch einen Meineid entweihen. Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott.
‘You shall not cheat your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not remain with you all night until morning.
Unterdrückt und beraubt einander nicht! Wenn ihr jemanden tageweise beschäftigt, müsst ihr ihm jeden Abend seinen Lohn auszahlen.
You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your God: I am the Lord.
Sagt nichts Böses über einen Tauben, und legt einem Blinden kein Hindernis in den Weg! Begegnet mir, eurem Gott, mit Ehrfurcht, denn ich bin der HERR.
‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.
Vor Gericht dürft ihr das Recht nicht beugen! Begünstigt weder den Armen noch den Einflussreichen, wenn ihr ein Urteil fällt. Es soll bei euch gerecht zugehen.
You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.
Verleumdet einander nicht, und tut nichts, was das Leben anderer gefährdet! Ich bin der HERR.
Hege keinen Hass gegenüber deinem Mitmenschen! Wenn du etwas gegen jemanden hast, dann weise ihn offen zurecht, sonst lädst du Schuld auf dich.
You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
Räche dich nicht und sei nicht nachtragend! Liebe deinen Mitmenschen wie dich selbst! Ich bin der HERR.
‘You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you.
Haltet euch an das, was ich euch sage. Kreuzt nicht verschiedene Arten eures Viehs miteinander; besät eure Felder nicht mit zweierlei Saatgut; tragt keine Kleidung aus Mischgewebe!
Wenn ein Mann mit einer Sklavin schläft, die mit einem anderen Mann verlobt ist, aber noch nicht freigekauft oder freigelassen wurde, dann muss der Mann Schadensersatz leisten. Die beiden müssen aber nicht getötet werden, denn die Frau war nicht frei.
And he shall bring his trespass offering to the Lord, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, a ram as a trespass offering.
Der Mann soll einen Schafbock als Schuldopfer zu mir, dem HERRN, an den Eingang des heiligen Zeltes bringen.
Der Priester opfert das Tier, damit der Mann von seiner Schuld befreit wird. Dann werde ich, der HERR, seine Sünde vergeben.
Wenn ihr ins Land Kanaan kommt und Obstbäume pflanzt, dann sind ihre Früchte in den ersten drei Jahren für euch verboten; ihr dürft sie nicht essen.
But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, a praise to the Lord.
Im vierten Jahr bringt ihr mir, dem HERRN, alle Früchte als Erntedankopfer dar.
And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am the Lord your God.
Vom fünften Jahr an dürft ihr die Früchte essen. Wenn ihr euch daran haltet, wird eure Ernte umso reicher sein. Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott.
‘You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying.
Esst kein Fleisch, das nicht völlig ausgeblutet ist! Treibt keine Wahrsagerei und Zauberei!
You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard.
Wenn ihr um einen Toten trauert, dann schneidet euch deswegen nicht die Haare rund um die Schläfen ab; stutzt auch nicht eure Bärte, ritzt euch nicht in die Haut und macht euch keine Tätowierungen! Ich bin der HERR.
‘Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry, and the land become full of wickedness.
Entehrt eure Töchter nicht, indem ihr sie zur Prostitution anstiftet! Sonst wird das ganze Land zu einer Stätte des Treuebruchs, und ich verabscheue, was dort geschieht.
Haltet den Sabbat als Ruhetag ein, und habt Ehrfurcht vor meinem Heiligtum! Ich bin der HERR.
‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.
Sucht niemals Hilfe bei Totenbeschwörern und Wahrsagern, denn sonst seid ihr in meinen Augen unrein. Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott.
Steht in Gegenwart alter Menschen auf und begegnet ihnen mit Respekt. Habt Ehrfurcht vor mir, dem HERRN, eurem Gott!
‘And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him.
Unterdrückt die Fremden nicht, die bei euch leben,
sondern behandelt sie wie euresgleichen. Liebt sie wie euch selbst, denn auch ihr seid Fremde in Ägypten gewesen! Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott.
‘You shall do no injustice in judgment, in measurement of length, weight, or volume.
Beugt nicht das Recht, betrügt nicht mit falschen Maßen und Gewichtsangaben,
You shall have honest scales, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
sondern verwendet genaue Waagen und richtige Gewichtssteine! Eure Hohlmaße für Getreide und Flüssigkeiten dürfen nicht gefälscht sein. Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott, der euch aus Ägypten befreit hat.
