Der Prophet Amos 2

Judgment on Israel

Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Moab, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen Moabs will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gebeine des Königs zu Edom haben zu Asche verbrannt;

But I will send a fire upon Moab,
And it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth;
Moab shall die with tumult,
With shouting and trumpet sound.

sondern ich will ein Feuer schicken nach Moab, das soll die Paläste zu Karioth verzehren; und Moab soll sterben im Getümmel und Geschrei und Posaunenhall.

And I will cut off the judge from its midst,
And slay all its princes with him,”
Says the Lord.

Und ich will den Richter unter ihnen ausrotten und alle ihre Fürsten samt ihm erwürgen, spricht der HERR.

Judgment on Judah

Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Judah, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they have despised the law of the Lord,
And have not kept His commandments.
Their lies lead them astray,
Lies which their fathers followed.

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen Juda’s will ich sein nicht schonen, darum daß sie des HERRN Gesetz verachten und seine Rechte nicht halten und lassen sich ihre Lügen verführen, welchen ihre Väter nachgefolgt sind;

But I will send a fire upon Judah,
And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.”

sondern ich will ein Feuer nach Juda schicken, das soll die Paläste zu Jerusalem verzehren.

Judgment on Israel

Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Israel, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they sell the righteous for silver,
And the poor for a pair of sandals.

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen Israels will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gerechten um Geld und die Armen um ein Paar Schuhe verkaufen.

They [a]pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor,
And pervert the way of the humble.
A man and his father go in to the same girl,
To defile My holy name.

Sie treten den Kopf der Armen in den Kot und hindern den Weg der Elenden. Es geht Sohn und Vater zur Dirne, daß sie meinen heiligen Namen entheiligen.

They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge,
And drink the wine of [b]the condemned in the house of their god.

Und bei allen Altären schlemmen sie auf den verpfändeten Kleidern und trinken Wein in ihrer Götter Hause von den Gebüßten.

“Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them,
Whose height was like the height of the cedars,
And he was as strong as the oaks;
Yet I destroyed his fruit above
And his roots beneath.

Und ich habe doch den Amoriter vor ihnen her vertilgt, der so hoch war wie die Zedern und seine Macht wie die Eichen; und ich vertilgte oben seine Frucht und unten seine Wurzel.

Also it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt,
And led you forty years through the wilderness,
To possess the land of the Amorite.

Auch habe ich euch aus Ägyptenland geführt und 40 Jahre in der Wüste geleitet, daß ihr der Amoriter Land besäßet.

I raised up some of your sons as prophets,
And some of your young men as Nazirites.
Is it not so, O you children of Israel?”
Says the Lord.

Und habe aus euren Kindern Propheten auferweckt und Gottgeweihte aus euren Jünglingen. Ist’s nicht also, ihr Kinder Israel? spricht der HERR.

“But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink,
And commanded the prophets saying,
‘Do not prophesy!’

So gebt ihr den Geweihten Wein zu trinken und gebietet den Propheten und sprecht: Ihr sollt nicht weissagen!

“Behold, I am [c]weighed down by you,
As a cart full of sheaves [d]is weighed down.

Siehe, ich will’s unter euch knarren machen, wie ein Wagen voll Garben knarrt,

Therefore [e]flight shall perish from the swift,
The strong shall not strengthen his power,
Nor shall the mighty [f]deliver himself;

daß der, so schnell ist, soll nicht entfliehen noch der Starke etwas vermögen und der Mächtige nicht soll sein Leben erretten können;

He shall not stand who handles the bow,
The swift of foot shall not [g]escape,
Nor shall he who rides a horse deliver himself.

und die Bogenschützen sollen nicht bestehen, und der schnell laufen kann, soll nicht entlaufen, und der da reitet, soll sein Leben nicht erretten;

The most [h]courageous men of might
Shall flee naked in that day,”
Says the Lord.

und der unter den Starken der mannhafteste ist, soll nackt entfliehen müssen zu der Zeit, spricht der HERR.
