The Pharisees and Sadducees Seek a Sign

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

Eines Tages kamen Pharisäer und Sadduzäer, um Jesus auf die Probe zu stellen. Sie verlangten von ihm ein Wunder als Beweis dafür, dass Gott ihn gesandt hatte.

He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’;

Jesus erwiderte: »Wenn sich der Himmel abends rot färbt, sagt ihr: ›Morgen wird das Wetter schön.‹

and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ [a]Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Und wenn er sich morgens rot färbt und trübe aussieht, wisst ihr: ›Heute gibt es schlechtes Wetter.‹ Aus den Zeichen am Himmel könnt ihr das Wetter vorhersagen, aber die Zeichen der Zeit könnt ihr nicht deuten!

A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of [b]the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Was seid ihr nur für eine böse und gottlose Generation! Ihr verlangt nach einem Beweis, doch den werdet ihr nicht bekommen. Ihr und eure Zeitgenossen werdet nur das Wunder sehen, das am Propheten Jona geschah.« Mit diesen Worten ließ Jesus sie stehen und ging weg.

The Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees

Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

Als sie an das andere Seeufer gekommen waren, stellten seine Jünger fest, dass sie vergessen hatten, Brot mitzunehmen.

Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the [c]leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”

Da warnte sie Jesus: »Hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer!«

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”

Die Jünger überlegten, was er wohl damit meinte: »Das sagt er bestimmt, weil wir kein Brot mitgenommen haben.«

But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you [d]have brought no bread?

Jesus merkte, worüber sie sprachen, und fragte: »Weshalb macht ihr euch Gedanken darüber, dass ihr kein Brot habt? Vertraut ihr mir so wenig?

Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?

Begreift ihr denn immer noch nicht? Habt ihr schon vergessen, dass ich fünftausend Menschen mit fünf Broten satt gemacht habe? Und wie viele Körbe habt ihr mit Resten gefüllt?

Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up?

Oder denkt an die sieben Brote, die ich an viertausend Menschen verteilt habe! Wie viele Körbe mit Resten waren es dann?

How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? — but to beware of the [e]leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Wie kommt ihr auf den Gedanken, dass ich vom Essen rede, wenn ich euch sage: ›Hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer‹?«

Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the [f]doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Erst jetzt begriffen sie, dass Jesus sie nicht vor dem Sauerteig im Brot gewarnt hatte, sondern vor der Lehre der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer.

Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

Als Jesus in die Gegend von Cäsarea Philippi kam, fragte er seine Jünger: »Für wen halten die Leute eigentlich den Menschensohn?«

So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

Die Jünger erwiderten: »Einige meinen, du seist Johannes der Täufer. Manche dagegen halten dich für Elia und manche für Jeremia oder einen anderen Propheten von früher.«

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

»Und ihr — für wen haltet ihr mich?«, fragte er sie.

Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Da antwortete Simon Petrus: »Du bist der Christus, der von Gott gesandte Retter! Du bist der Sohn des lebendigen Gottes.«

Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

»Du kannst dich wirklich glücklich schätzen, Simon, Sohn von Jona«, sagte Jesus. »Diese Erkenntnis hat dir mein Vater im Himmel gegeben; von sich aus kommt ein Mensch nicht zu dieser Einsicht.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [g]prevail against it.

Ich sage dir: Du bist Petrus. Auf diesen Felsen werde ich meine Gemeinde bauen, und selbst die Macht des Todes wird sie nicht besiegen können.

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth [h]will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Ich werde dir die Schlüssel zu Gottes himmlischem Reich geben. Was du auf der Erde binden wirst, das soll auch im Himmel gebunden sein. Und was du auf der Erde lösen wirst, das soll auch im Himmel gelöst sein.«

Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

Darauf verbot er seinen Jüngern streng, jemandem zu sagen, dass er der Christus sei.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Danach sprach Jesus mit seinen Jüngern zum ersten Mal offen über das, was ihm bevorstand: »Wir müssen nach Jerusalem gehen. Dort werde ich von den führenden Männern des Volkes, den obersten Priestern und den Schriftgelehrten vieles zu erleiden haben und getötet werden. Aber am dritten Tag werde ich von den Toten auferstehen.«

Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, [i]“Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”

Da nahm ihn Petrus zur Seite, um ihn von diesen Gedanken abzubringen: »Herr, das möge Gott verhindern! So etwas darf dir niemals zustoßen!«

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are [j]an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Aber Jesus wandte sich zu ihm und sagte: »Weg mit dir, Satan! Du willst mich hindern, meinen Auftrag zu erfüllen. Was du da sagst, ist menschlich gedacht, aber Gottes Gedanken sind anders.«

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Danach sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: »Wer zu mir gehören will, darf nicht mehr sich selbst in den Mittelpunkt stellen, sondern muss sein Kreuz auf sich nehmen und mir nachfolgen.

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Denn wer sich an sein Leben klammert, der wird es verlieren. Wer aber sein Leben für mich aufgibt, der wird es für immer gewinnen.

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Was hat ein Mensch denn davon, wenn ihm die ganze Welt zufällt, er selbst dabei aber seine Seele verliert? Er kann sie ja nicht wieder zurückkaufen!

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Denn der Menschensohn wird mit seinen Engeln in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters kommen und jedem das geben, was er für seine Taten verdient.

Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

Ich versichere euch: Einige von euch, die hier stehen, werden nicht sterben, bevor sie gesehen haben, wie der Menschensohn die Herrschaft antritt.«
