Nachdem Jesus das alles gesagt hatte, verließ er Galiläa und kam in das Gebiet von Judäa östlich des Jordan.

Eine große Menschenmenge folgte ihm dorthin, und er heilte ihre Kranken.
The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”
Da kamen einige Pharisäer zu Jesus, weil sie ihm eine Falle stellen wollten. Sie fragten ihn: »Darf sich ein Mann von seiner Frau aus jedem beliebigen Grund scheiden lassen?«
Jesus antwortete: »Habt ihr denn nicht gelesen, was in der Heiligen Schrift steht? Da heißt es doch, dass Gott am Anfang die Menschen als Mann und Frau schuf
and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
und sagte: ›Ein Mann verlässt seine Eltern und verbindet sich so eng mit seiner Frau, dass die beiden eins sind mit Leib und Seele.‹
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Sie sind also eins und nicht länger zwei voneinander getrennte Menschen. Und was Gott zusammengefügt hat, das soll der Mensch nicht scheiden.«
They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”
»Doch weshalb«, fragten sie weiter, »hat Mose dann vorgeschrieben, dass der Mann seiner Frau eine Scheidungsurkunde geben soll, wenn er sie wegschicken will?«
He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
Jesus antwortete: »Mose erlaubte es, dass ihr euch von euren Frauen scheiden lasst, weil er euer hartes Herz kannte. Am Anfang ist es jedoch anders gewesen.
Ich sage euch: Wer sich von seiner Frau trennt und eine andere heiratet, der begeht Ehebruch, es sei denn, seine Frau hat ihn betrogen.«
His disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”
Da sagten die Jünger zu Jesus: »Wenn das mit der Ehe so ist, dann heiratet man besser gar nicht!«

Jesus antwortete: »Nicht jeder kann begreifen, was ich jetzt sage, sondern nur die, denen Gott das Verständnis dafür gibt.
Manche sind von Geburt an zur Ehe unfähig; andere werden es durch menschlichen Eingriff. Und es gibt Menschen, die verzichten von sich aus auf die Ehe, um sich Gottes himmlischem Reich ganz zur Verfügung zu stellen. Wer das begreift, der richte sich danach!«

Eines Tages brachte man Kinder zu Jesus, damit er ihnen die Hände auflegte und für sie betete. Aber die Jünger fuhren sie an und wollten sie wegschicken.
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Doch Jesus sagte: »Lasst die Kinder zu mir kommen und haltet sie nicht zurück, denn Menschen wie ihnen gehört Gottes himmlisches Reich.«
And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.
Er legte ihnen die Hände auf und segnete sie. Danach zog er weiter.
Ein junger Mann kam mit der Frage zu Jesus: »Lehrer, was muss ich Gutes tun, um das ewige Leben zu bekommen?«
Jesus entgegnete: »Wieso fragst du mich nach dem Guten? Es gibt nur einen, der gut ist, und das ist Gott. Wenn du den Weg gehen willst, der zum Leben führt, dann befolge seine Gebote.«

Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’

»Welche denn?«, fragte der Mann, und Jesus antwortete: »Du sollst nicht töten! Du sollst nicht die Ehe brechen! Du sollst nicht stehlen! Sag nichts Unwahres über deinen Mitmenschen!
‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, und liebe deinen Mitmenschen wie dich selbst.«
»An all das habe ich mich gehalten. Was fehlt mir noch?«, wollte der junge Mann wissen.
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Jesus antwortete: »Wenn du vollkommen sein willst, dann geh, verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib das Geld den Armen. Damit wirst du im Himmel einen Reichtum gewinnen, der niemals verloren geht. Und dann komm und folge mir nach!«
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Als der junge Mann das hörte, ging er traurig weg, denn er besaß ein großes Vermögen.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Da sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: »Ich versichere euch: Ein Reicher hat es sehr schwer, in Gottes himmlisches Reich zu kommen.
And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Ja, eher geht ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr, als dass ein Reicher in Gottes Reich kommt.«
When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
Darüber waren die Jünger entsetzt und fragten: »Wer kann dann überhaupt gerettet werden?«
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Jesus sah sie an und sagte: »Für Menschen ist es unmöglich, aber für Gott ist alles möglich!«
Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?”
Jetzt fragte Petrus: »Aber wie ist es nun mit uns? Wir haben doch alles aufgegeben und sind mit dir gegangen. Was werden wir dafür bekommen?«
So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesus antwortete: »Ich versichere euch: Wenn Gott die Welt neu macht und der Menschensohn in all seiner Herrlichkeit auf dem Thron sitzen wird, dann werdet ihr ebenfalls auf zwölf Thronen sitzen und die zwölf Stämme Israels richten, weil ihr mir nachgefolgt seid.
Jeder, der sein Haus, seine Geschwister, seine Eltern, seine Kinder oder seinen Besitz zurücklässt, um mir zu folgen, wird dies alles hundertfach zurückerhalten und das ewige Leben empfangen.
