Liebe Brüder und Schwestern! Ich konnte allerdings zu euch nicht wie zu Menschen reden, die sich vom Geist Gottes leiten lassen und im Glauben erwachsen sind. Ihr wart noch wie kleine Kinder, die ihren eigenen Wünschen folgen.
I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;
Darum habe ich euch nur Milch und keine feste Nahrung gegeben, denn die hättet ihr gar nicht vertragen. Selbst jetzt vertragt ihr diese Nahrung noch nicht;
denn ihr lebt immer noch so, als würdet ihr Christus nicht kennen. Beweisen Eifersucht und Streit unter euch nicht, dass ihr immer noch von eurer selbstsüchtigen Natur bestimmt werdet und wie alle anderen Menschen denkt und lebt?
For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
Wenn die einen unter euch sagen: »Wir gehören zu Paulus!«, und andere: »Wir halten uns an Apollos!«, dann benehmt ihr euch, als hätte Christus euch nicht zu neuen Menschen gemacht.

Wer ist denn schon Apollos oder Paulus, dass ihr euch deshalb streitet? Wir sind doch nur Diener Gottes, durch die ihr zum Glauben gefunden habt. Jeder von uns hat lediglich getan, was ihm von Gott aufgetragen wurde.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
Ich habe gepflanzt, Apollos hat begossen, aber Gott hat das Wachstum geschenkt.
So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
Es ist nicht so wichtig, wer pflanzt und wer begießt; wichtig ist allein Gott, der für das Wachstum sorgt.
Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
Von Gottes Mitarbeitern ist einer so notwendig wie der andere, ob er nun das Werk beginnt oder weiterführt. Jeder wird von Gott den Lohn für seine Arbeit bekommen, der ihm zusteht.
For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.

Doch an dem Tag, an dem Christus sein Urteil spricht, wird sich zeigen, womit jeder gebaut hat. Dann nämlich wird alles im Feuer auf seinen Wert geprüft, und es wird sichtbar, wessen Arbeit den Flammen standhält.
If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
Hat jemand fest und dauerhaft auf dem Fundament Christus weitergebaut, wird Gott ihn belohnen.
If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Geht aber sein Werk in Flammen auf, wird er seinen Lohn verlieren. Er selbst wird zwar gerettet werden, aber nur mit knapper Not, so wie man jemanden aus dem Feuer reißt.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Wisst ihr nicht, dass ihr Gottes Tempel seid und dass Gottes Geist in eurer Mitte wohnt?
Wer diesen Tempel zerstört, den wird Gott ins Verderben stürzen. Denn Gottes Tempel ist heilig, und dieser Tempel seid ihr!
Avoid Worldly Wisdom
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

Macht euch doch nichts vor! Wenn sich jemand von euch einbildet, in dieser Welt besonders klug und weise zu sein, dann muss er den Mut aufbringen, als töricht zu gelten. Nur dann wird er wirklich weise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;
Denn was diese Welt für weise hält, ist in den Augen Gottes blanker Unsinn. So steht es schon in der Heiligen Schrift: »Er fängt die Klugen mit ihrer eigenen Klugheit.«
and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”
Und außerdem heißt es: »Der Herr durchschaut die Gedanken der Weisen und weiß: Sie sind wertlos und führen zu nichts.«
Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:
Merkt ihr, wie unsinnig es ist, einem bestimmten Menschen zu folgen und sich darauf auch noch etwas einzubilden? Euch gehört doch ohnehin alles:
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come — all are yours.
Paulus, Apollos und Petrus, ja, die ganze Welt, das Leben wie der Tod, die Gegenwart wie die Zukunft — alles gehört euch!
