Es geschah aber: Als die Volksmenge Jesus bedrängte und das Wort Gottes hören wollte, da stand er am See Gennesaret
He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.
und sah zwei Boote am See liegen. Die Fischer waren aus ihnen ausgestiegen und wuschen ihre Netze.
Jesus stieg in eines der Boote, das dem Simon gehörte, und bat ihn, ein Stück weit vom Land wegzufahren. Dann setzte er sich und lehrte das Volk vom Boot aus.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”
Als er seine Rede beendet hatte, sagte er zu Simon: Fahr hinaus, wo es tief ist, und werft eure Netze zum Fang aus!
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”
Simon antwortete ihm: Meister, wir haben die ganze Nacht gearbeitet und nichts gefangen. Doch auf dein Wort hin werde ich die Netze auswerfen.
And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!
Das taten sie und sie fingen eine große Menge Fische; ihre Netze aber drohten zu reißen.
A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.
Und sie gaben ihren Gefährten im anderen Boot ein Zeichen, sie sollten kommen und ihnen helfen. Sie kamen und füllten beide Boote, sodass sie fast versanken.
When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me — I’m such a sinful man.”
Als Simon Petrus das sah, fiel er Jesus zu Füßen und sagte: Geh weg von mir; denn ich bin ein sündiger Mensch, Herr!
For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him.
Denn Schrecken hatte ihn und alle seine Begleiter ergriffen über den Fang der Fische, den sie gemacht hatten;
His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed.
Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!”

And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.
Und sie zogen die Boote an Land, verließen alles und folgten ihm nach.
Jesus Heals a Man with Leprosy
In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground, begging to be healed. “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”
Und es geschah, als sich Jesus in einer der Städte aufhielt: Siehe, da war ein Mann voller Aussatz. Als er Jesus sah, warf er sich auf sein Angesicht und bat ihn: Herr, wenn du willst, kannst du mich rein machen.
Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.
Da streckte Jesus die Hand aus, berührte ihn und sagte: Ich will — werde rein! Im gleichen Augenblick wich der Aussatz von ihm.
Jesus befahl ihm: Erzähl niemandem davon, sondern geh, zeig dich dem Priester und bring das Reinigungsopfer dar, wie es Mose angeordnet hat, zum Zeugnis für sie!
But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases.
Sein Ruf aber verbreitete sich immer mehr und große Volksmengen kamen zusammen, um zu hören und von ihren Krankheiten geheilt zu werden.
But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.
Doch er zog sich an einen einsamen Ort zurück, um zu beten.
Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man
One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus.
Und es geschah eines Tages, als Jesus lehrte, saßen Pharisäer und Gesetzeslehrer dabei; sie waren aus allen Dörfern Galiläas und Judäas und aus Jerusalem gekommen. Und die Kraft des Herrn war mit ihm, sodass er heilen konnte.
Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus,
Und siehe, Männer brachten auf seinem Bett einen Menschen, der gelähmt war. Sie wollten ihn ins Haus bringen und vor Jesus hinlegen.
but they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd. So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
Weil es ihnen aber wegen der Volksmenge nicht möglich war, ihn hineinzubringen, stiegen sie aufs Dach und ließen ihn durch die Ziegel auf dem Bett hinunter in die Mitte vor Jesus hin.
Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.”
Als er ihren Glauben sah, sagte er: Mensch, deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.
But the Pharisees and teachers of religious law said to themselves, “Who does he think he is? That’s blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!”
Und die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer fingen an zu überlegen: Wer ist dieser, der Lästerungen ausspricht? Wer kann Sünden vergeben außer Gott allein?
Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts?
Jesus aber erkannte ihre Gedanken und erwiderte ihnen: Was überlegt ihr in euren Herzen?
Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’?
Was ist leichter, zu sagen: Deine Sünden sind dir vergeben! oder zu sagen: Steh auf und geh umher?
Damit ihr aber erkennt, dass der Menschensohn die Vollmacht hat, auf der Erde Sünden zu vergeben — sprach er zu dem Gelähmten: Ich sage dir: Steh auf, nimm dein Bett und geh in dein Haus!
And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God.
Und sogleich stand er vor ihren Augen auf, nahm das Bett, auf dem er gelegen hatte, und ging Gott preisend in sein Haus.
Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!”
Da gerieten alle außer sich; sie priesen Gott und sagten voller Furcht: Heute haben wir Unglaubliches gesehen.
Jesus Calls Levi (Matthew)
Later, as Jesus left the town, he saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him.
Danach ging Jesus hinaus und sah einen Zöllner namens Levi am Zoll sitzen und sagte zu ihm: Folge mir nach!
So Levi got up, left everything, and followed him.
Da verließ Levi alles, stand auf und folgte ihm nach.
Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them.
Und Levi gab für Jesus in seinem Haus ein großes Gastmahl. Viele Zöllner und andere waren mit ihnen zu Tisch.
Da murrten die Pharisäer und ihre Schriftgelehrten und sagten zu seinen Jüngern: Wie könnt ihr zusammen mit Zöllnern und Sündern essen und trinken?
Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor — sick people do.
Jesus antwortete ihnen: Nicht die Gesunden bedürfen des Arztes, sondern die Kranken.
I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”
Ich bin nicht gekommen, um Gerechte, sondern Sünder zur Umkehr zu rufen.
A Discussion about Fasting
One day some people said to Jesus, “John the Baptist’s disciples fast and pray regularly, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are your disciples always eating and drinking?”
Sie sagten zu ihm: Die Jünger des Johannes fasten und beten viel, ebenso die der Pharisäer; deine Jünger aber essen und trinken.
Jesus responded, “Do wedding guests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not.
Jesus erwiderte ihnen: Könnt ihr denn die Hochzeitsgäste fasten lassen, solange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist?
But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.”
Es werden aber Tage kommen, da wird ihnen der Bräutigam weggenommen sein; dann, in jenen Tagen, werden sie fasten.
Then Jesus gave them this illustration: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and uses it to patch an old garment. For then the new garment would be ruined, and the new patch wouldn’t even match the old garment.
Er erzählte ihnen aber auch ein Gleichnis: Niemand schneidet ein Stück von einem neuen Gewand ab und setzt es auf ein altes Gewand. Sonst würde ja das neue Gewand zerschnitten und zu dem alten würde das Stück von dem neuen nicht passen.
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins.
Auch füllt niemand jungen Wein in alte Schläuche. Sonst würde ja der junge Wein die Schläuche zerreißen; er läuft aus und die Schläuche sind unbrauchbar.
New wine must be stored in new wineskins.
Sondern: Jungen Wein muss man in neue Schläuche füllen.
