Made Alive with Christ
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.
Ihr wart tot infolge eurer Verfehlungen und Sünden.
Ihr wart einst darin gefangen, wie es der Art dieser Welt entspricht, unter der Herrschaft jenes Geistes, der im Bereich der Lüfte regiert und jetzt noch in den Ungehorsamen wirksam ist.
All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
Unter ihnen haben auch wir alle einmal unser Leben geführt, als wir noch von den Begierden unseres Fleisches beherrscht wurden. Wir folgten dem, was das Fleisch und der böse Sinn uns eingaben, und waren von Natur aus Kinder des Zorns wie auch die anderen.
that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
Gott aber, der reich ist an Erbarmen, hat uns, die wir infolge unserer Sünden tot waren, in seiner großen Liebe, mit der er uns geliebt hat, zusammen mit Christus lebendig gemacht. Aus Gnade seid ihr gerettet.
For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
Er hat uns mit Christus Jesus auferweckt und uns zusammen mit ihm einen Platz in den himmlischen Bereichen gegeben,
So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
um in den kommenden Zeiten den überfließenden Reichtum seiner Gnade zu zeigen, in Güte an uns durch Christus Jesus.
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Denn aus Gnade seid ihr durch den Glauben gerettet, nicht aus eigener Kraft — Gott hat es geschenkt — ,
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
nicht aus Werken, damit keiner sich rühmen kann.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Denn seine Geschöpfe sind wir, in Christus Jesus zu guten Werken erschaffen, die Gott für uns im Voraus bestimmt hat, damit wir mit ihnen unser Leben gestalten. VERSÖHNUNG VON JUDEN UND HEIDEN IN CHRISTUS: 2,11–22
Oneness and Peace in Christ
Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.
Erinnert euch also, dass ihr früher von Geburt Heiden wart und von denen, die äußerlich beschnitten sind, Unbeschnittene genannt wurdet.
In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.
Zu jener Zeit wart ihr von Christus getrennt, der Gemeinde Israels fremd und von dem Bund der Verheißung ausgeschlossen; ihr hattet keine Hoffnung und lebtet ohne Gott in der Welt.
But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
Jetzt aber seid ihr, die ihr einst in der Ferne wart, in Christus Jesus, nämlich durch sein Blut, in die Nähe gekommen.
For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.
Denn er ist unser Friede. Er vereinigte die beiden Teile und riss die trennende Wand der Feindschaft in seinem Fleisch nieder.
He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups.
Er hob das Gesetz mit seinen Geboten und Forderungen auf, um die zwei in sich zu einem neuen Menschen zu machen. Er stiftete Frieden
Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.
und versöhnte die beiden durch das Kreuz mit Gott in einem einzigen Leib. Er hat in seiner Person die Feindschaft getötet.
He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near.
Er kam und verkündete den Frieden: euch, den Fernen, und Frieden den Nahen.
Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.
Denn durch ihn haben wir beide in dem einen Geist Zugang zum Vater.
A Temple for the Lord
So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.
Ihr seid also jetzt nicht mehr Fremde und ohne Bürgerrecht, sondern Mitbürger der Heiligen und Hausgenossen Gottes.
Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.
Ihr seid auf das Fundament der Apostel und Propheten gebaut; der Eckstein ist Christus Jesus selbst.
We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.
In ihm wird der ganze Bau zusammengehalten und wächst zu einem heiligen Tempel im Herrn.
