Er sagte daher zu den Männern Judas: Wir wollen diese Städte ausbauen und sie mit Mauern, Türmen, Toren und Riegeln versehen; denn noch liegt das Land frei vor uns. Weil wir den HERRN, unseren Gott, eifrig gesucht haben, hat er uns ringsum Ruhe verschafft. So konnten sie bauen und hatten Erfolg.

(Und er sprach zu Juda: Laßt uns diese Städte bauen und Mauern darumher führen und Türme, Türen und Riegel, weil das Land noch offen vor uns ist; denn wir haben den HERRN, unsern Gott, gesucht, und er hat uns Ruhe gegeben umher. Also bauten sie, und es ging glücklich vonstatten.

Er sagte zu den Bewohnern von Juda: »Jetzt ist die beste Gelegenheit, unsere Städte zu befestigen! Lasst uns Stadtmauern und Türme bauen und sie mit Toren und starken Riegeln versehen! Denn noch haben wir in unserem Land freie Hand. Weil wir nach dem HERRN, unserem Gott, gefragt haben, darum hat er uns nun ringsum Frieden geschenkt.« So begann man mit dem Ausbau der Städte und konnte die Arbeiten ungehindert abschließen.
