Doch weh euch Pharisäern! Ihr gebt den Zehnten von Minze, Gewürzkraut und allem Gemüse und geht am Recht und an der Liebe Gottes vorbei. Man muss das eine tun, ohne das andere zu unterlassen.

Aber weh euch Pharisäern, daß ihr verzehntet die Minze und Raute und allerlei Kohl, und geht vorbei an dem Gericht und an der Liebe Gottes! Dies sollte man tun und jenes nicht lassen.

Wehe euch, ihr Pharisäer! Sogar von Küchenkräutern wie Minze und Raute und auch von allen anderen Gewürzen gebt ihr Gott den zehnten Teil. Aber das, was viel wichtiger wäre — Gerechtigkeit und die Liebe zu Gott —, ist euch gleichgültig. Doch gerade darum geht es hier: das Wesentliche tun und das andere nicht unterlassen.
