Hoffnung für Alle
Ein Israelit verstieß gegen das Verbot, sich etwas von den Reichtümern Jerichos anzueignen: Achan, der Sohn von Karmi. Er war ein Nachkomme von Sabdi und Serach aus dem Stamm Juda. Achan nahm etwas von dem mit, was vernichtet werden sollte. Darum wurde der HERR sehr zornig über die Israeliten.

Aber die Kinder Israel vergriffen sich an dem Verbannten; denn Achan, der Sohn Charmis, des Sohnes Sabdis, des Sohnes Serahs, vom Stamm Juda nahm des Verbannten etwas. Da ergrimmte der Zorn des HERRN über die Kinder Israel.

Die Israeliten aber veruntreuten etwas von dem, was als Banngut geweiht war. Denn Achan, der Sohn Karmis, des Sohnes Sabdis, des Sohnes Serachs, vom Stamm Juda, nahm etwas von dem Banngut. Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über die Israeliten.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel. -
