Das ist ein böses Ding unter allem, was unter der Sonne geschieht, daß es einem geht wie dem andern; daher auch das Herz der Menschen voll Arges wird, und Torheit ist in ihrem Herzen, dieweil sie leben; darnach müssen sie sterben.

Es ist zum Verzweifeln, dass alle Menschen auf dieser Welt ein und dasselbe Schicksal erleiden! Ihr Leben lang sind sie verblendet, und ihr Herz ist voller Bosheit, bis sie schließlich sterben.

Das ist das Schlimme an allem, was unter der Sonne getan wurde, dass alle dann ein und dasselbe Geschick trifft und dass in den Menschen überdies die Lust zum Bösen wächst und Verblendung ihren Geist erfasst, während sie leben und danach, wenn sie zu den Toten müssen —
