Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

Sie gebar ihm Simran, Jokschan, Medan, Midian, Jischbak und Schuach.
And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
Jokschan zeugte Saba und Dedan. Die Söhne Dedans waren die Aschuriter, die Letuschiter und die Lëummiter.
And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
Die Söhne Midians waren Efa, Efer, Henoch, Abida und Eldaga. Sie alle waren Söhne Keturas.
And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
Den Söhnen der Nebenfrauen, die Abraham hatte, gab Abraham Geschenke und schickte sie noch zu seinen Lebzeiten weit weg von seinem Sohn Isaak nach Osten, ins Morgenland.
But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

The Death of Abraham
And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

Dann verschied er. Er starb in glücklichem Alter, betagt und lebenssatt, und wurde mit seinen Vorfahren vereint.
Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
Seine Söhne Isaak und Ismael begruben ihn in der Höhle von Machpela gegenüber Mamre, auf dem Feld des Hetiters Efron, des Sohnes Zohars,
And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
Das waren die Söhne Ismaels und das waren ihre Namen in ihren Siedlungen und Zeltlagern: zwölf Fürsten, je einer für einen Stamm.
These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
Und das ist die Zahl der Lebensjahre Ismaels: hundertsiebenunddreißig Jahre. Dann verschied er und wurde mit seinen Vorfahren vereint.
And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
Ihr Siedlungsgebiet reichte von Hawila bis Schur, das Ägypten gegenüber an der Straße nach Assur liegt. Im Angesicht aller seiner Brüder fiel ihm sein Wohngebiet zu.
And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.
Und das ist die Geschlechterfolge Isaaks, des Sohnes von Abraham: Abraham zeugte Isaak.
Jacob and Esau
And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:

Isaak war vierzig Jahre alt, als er sich Rebekka zur Frau nahm. Sie war die Tochter des Aramäers Betuël aus Paddan-Aram, eine Schwester des Aramäers Laban.
And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
Isaak betete zum HERRN für seine Frau, denn sie war kinderlos geblieben, und der HERR ließ sich von ihm erbitten. Als seine Frau Rebekka schwanger war,
And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
stießen die Söhne einander im Mutterleib. Da sagte sie: Wenn das so ist, was soll dann aus mir werden? Sie ging, um den HERRN zu befragen.
And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.
Der HERR gab diese Antwort: Zwei Völker sind in deinem Leib, zwei Stämme trennen sich schon in deinem Schoß. Ein Stamm ist dem andern überlegen, der ältere muss dem jüngeren dienen.
And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
Als die Zeit ihrer Niederkunft gekommen war, siehe, da waren Zwillinge in ihrem Schoß.
And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
Der Erste, der hervorkam, war rötlich, über und über mit Haaren bedeckt wie mit einem Mantel. Sie gaben ihm den Namen Esau.
And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
Darauf kam sein Bruder hervor; seine Hand hielt die Ferse Esaus fest. Man gab ihm den Namen Jakob, Fersenhalter. Isaak war sechzig Jahre alt, als sie geboren wurden.
And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
Die Knaben wuchsen heran. Esau wurde ein Mann, der sich auf die Jagd verstand, ein Mann des freien Feldes. Jakob war ein Mann ohne Fehl und blieb bei den Zelten.
And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
Isaak liebte Esau; denn er aß gern Wildbret. Rebekka aber liebte Jakob.
And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Einst kochte Jakob ein Gericht. Da kam Esau vom Feld; er war erschöpft.
Esau Sells his Birthright
And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
Esau sagte zu Jakob: Lass mich doch schnell essen von dem Roten, von dem Roten da, denn ich bin erschöpft! Deshalb gab man ihm den Namen Edom, Roter.
And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
Jakob aber sagte: Verkauf mir zuvor dein Erstgeburtsrecht!
And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
Esau sagte: Siehe, ich sterbe vor Hunger. Was soll mir da das Erstgeburtsrecht?
And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
Jakob aber sagte: Schwöre mir zuvor! Da schwor er ihm und verkaufte sein Erstgeburtsrecht an Jakob.
And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
