Lament over Tyre
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,

Du, Menschensohn, stimm die Totenklage über Tyrus an!
“And you, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre;
Sag zu Tyrus, die da wohnt am Zugang zum Meer, die Handel treibt mit den Völkern bis hin zu den vielen Inseln: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Tyrus, du sagst: Ich bin von vollendeter Schönheit.
and say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrance to the sea, merchant of the peoples to many coastlands, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,
“O Tyre, you have said, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
“O Tyre, you have said, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
Im Herzen der Meere liegt dein Gebiet. Vollendet schön schufen dich deine Erbauer.
“Your borders are in the heart of the seas;
Your builders have perfected your beauty.
Your builders have perfected your beauty.
Aus Zypressen vom Senirgebirge bauten sie all deine Planken, eine Zeder vom Libanon nahmen sie, um auf dir den Mast zu errichten.
“They have made all your planks of fir trees from Senir;
They have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you.

Deine Ruder machten sie aus Terebinthen vom Baschan, dein Deck aus Elfenbein und Eschenholz von den Inseln der Kittäer.
“Of oaks from Bashan they have made your oars;

Dein Segel war bunt gewebtes ägyptisches Leinen. Es sollte dein Erkennungszeichen sein. Deine Planen waren aus violettem und rotem Purpur von den Küsten Elischas.
“Your sail was of fine embroidered linen from Egypt

Deine Ruderer stammten aus Sidon und Arwad. Deine Weisen, Tyrus, waren bei dir. Sie waren deine Seeleute.
“The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers;
Your wise men, O Tyre, were aboard; they were your pilots.

Die Ältesten von Gebal und seine Weisen fuhren auf dir, um deine Risse zu dichten. Alle Schiffe des Meeres und ihre Schiffsleute kamen zu dir, um mit dir Handel zu treiben.

Paras, Lud und Put waren in deinem Heer als deine Krieger. Schilde und Helme hängten sie auf an dir; diese verliehen dir prächtigen Glanz.
“Persia and Lud and Put were in your army, your men of war. They hung shield and helmet in you; they set forth your splendor.
Die Söhne von Arwad und dein Heer standen ringsum auf deinen Mauern und Gammaditer auf deinen Türmen. Ihre Schilde hängten sie rings an deinen Mauern auf. Sie machten deine Schönheit vollkommen.
“The sons of Arvad and your army were on your walls, all around, and the Gammadim were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all around; they perfected your beauty.
Tarschisch kaufte bei dir wegen der Fülle all deiner Güter; Silber, Eisen, Zinn und Blei gaben sie für deine Waren.
“Tarshish was your customer because of the abundance of all kinds of wealth; with silver, iron, tin and lead they paid for your wares.
Jawan, Tubal und Meschech, sie waren deine Händler. Menschen und Kupfergeräte gaben sie für deine Handelswaren.
“Javan, Tubal and Meshech, they were your traders; with the lives of men and vessels of bronze they paid for your merchandise.
Die von Bet-Togarma gaben Zugpferde und Reitpferde und Maultiere für deine Waren.
“Those from Beth-togarmah gave horses and war horses and mules for your wares.
Die Söhne von Dedan waren deine Händler. Viele Inseln standen als Kaufleute an deiner Seite; als Abgaben brachten sie dir Elfenbein und Ebenholz.
“The sons of Dedan were your traders. Many coastlands were your market; ivory tusks and ebony they brought as your payment.
Aram kaufte bei dir wegen der Fülle deiner Erzeugnisse. Karfunkelstein, Purpur, bunte Stoffe, Byssus, Korallen und Rubine gaben sie für deine Waren.
“Aram was your customer because of the abundance of your goods; they paid for your wares with emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and rubies.
Juda und das Land Israel, sie waren deine Händler. Weizen aus Minnit, Pannag, Honig, Öl und Mastix gaben sie für deine Handelswaren.
“Judah and the land of Israel, they were your traders; with the wheat of Minnith, cakes, honey, oil and balm they paid for your merchandise.
Damaskus kaufte bei dir wegen der Fülle deiner Erzeugnisse, wegen der Fülle all deiner Güter. Wein aus Helbon und Wolle aus Zahar,
“Damascus was your customer because of the abundance of your goods, because of the abundance of all kinds of wealth, because of the wine of Helbon and white wool.
Wein aus Usal gaben sie für deine Waren. Gehämmertes Eisen, Zimt und Gewürzrohr gehörte zu deinen Handelswaren.
“Vedan and Javan paid for your wares from Uzal; wrought iron, cassia and sweet cane were among your merchandise.
Arabien und alle Fürsten von Kedar, sie waren Kaufleute an deiner Seite. Sie kauften bei dir Lämmer, Widder und Böcke.
“Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, they were your customers for lambs, rams and goats; for these they were your customers.
Händler von Saba und Ragma, sie trieben Handel mit dir. Für den allerbesten Balsam, für alle Arten von Edelsteinen und Gold gaben sie deine Waren.
“The traders of Sheba and Raamah, they traded with you; they paid for your wares with the best of all kinds of spices, and with all kinds of precious stones and gold.
Haran, Kanne und Eden, die Händler von Saba, Assur, Kilmad trieben Handel mit dir.
“Haran, Canneh, Eden, the traders of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad traded with you.
Sie waren deine Händler. Prunkgewänder und Mäntel aus violettem Purpur, bunte Stoffe und mehrfarbige Tücher, feste gedrehte Seile kauften sie ein für dich.
“They traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of blue and embroidered work, and in carpets of many colors and tightly wound cords, which were among your merchandise.
Die Schiffe von Tarschisch dienten dir als Karawanen für deine Waren. So fülltest du dich, wurdest schwer beladen im Herzen der Meere.
“The ships of Tarshish were the carriers for your merchandise.
And you were filled and were very glorious

Über gewaltige Wasser brachten dich deine Ruderer. Da zerbrach dich der Ostwind im Herzen der Meere.
“Your rowers have brought you
Into great waters;

Dein Reichtum, deine Waren, dein Handelsgut, deine Schiffsleute und deine Seeleute, die Männer, die deine Risse dichten, die deine Waren eintauschen, alle deine Soldaten auf dir und in deinem ganzen Aufgebot, die in deiner Mitte sind, sie fallen in das Herz der Meere am Tag deines Falles.
“Your wealth, your wares, your merchandise,
Your sailors and your pilots,
Your repairers of seams, your dealers in merchandise
And all your men of war who are in you,
With all your company that is in your midst,
Will fall into the heart of the seas
On the day of your overthrow.

Beim lauten Geschrei deiner Seeleute wogen die Wasserfluten.
“At the sound of the cry of your pilots
The pasture lands will shake.

Alle, die das Ruder führen, verlassen ihr Schiff. Schiffsleute, alle Seeleute des Meeres, sie stehen an Land.

Über dich lassen sie laut ihre Stimme hören, bitterlich schreien sie auf. Sie streuen sich Staub auf ihr Haupt, in der Asche wälzen sie sich.

Deinetwegen scheren sie sich eine Glatze, Trauerkleider legen sie an und weinen über dich mit verbitterter Seele, mit bitterer Klage.
“Also they will make themselves bald for you
And gird themselves with sackcloth;
And they will weep for you in bitterness of soul
With bitter mourning.

In ihrem Jammer stimmen sie über dich eine Totenklage an und halten Klage für dich: Wer war wie Tyrus, ihm vergleichbar, mitten im Meer?

Als deine Waren vom Meer her kamen, hast du viele Völker gesättigt. Die Könige der Erde machtest du reich mit deinem gewaltigen Reichtum und deinen Handelswaren.
‘When your wares went out from the seas,
You satisfied many peoples;
With the abundance of your wealth and your merchandise
You enriched the kings of earth.

Jetzt bist du zerbrochen — weg von den Meeren — in den Tiefen des Wassers. Deine Handelswaren und dein ganzes Aufgebot in deiner Mitte sind gefallen.
‘Now that you are broken by the seas

Have fallen in the midst of you.

Alle Bewohner der Küsten sind entsetzt über dich; ihren Königen sträubt sich das Haar. Verstört sind die Gesichter.
