HERR, ich höre die Kunde, ich sehe, HERR, was du früher getan hast. Lass es in diesen Jahren wieder geschehen, offenbare es in diesen Jahren! Auch wenn du zürnst, denk an dein Erbarmen!
O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
Gott kommt von Teman her, der Heilige kommt vom Gebirge Paran. [Sela] Seine Hoheit überstrahlt den Himmel, sein Ruhm erfüllt die Erde.
God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
Und ein Leuchten wie Licht wird sein, Strahlen gehen aus von seiner Hand, in ihnen verbirgt sich seine Macht.
And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
Die Seuche zieht vor ihm her, die Pest folgt seinen Schritten.
Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.
Er stellt sich auf und misst die Erde ab. Er blickt hin und lässt die Völker erzittern. Da zerbersten die ewigen Berge, versinken die uralten Hügel. Das sind von jeher seine Wege.
He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.
Die Zelte Kuschans sehe ich voll Unheil; auch in Midian zittern die Zelte.
I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.
HERR, ist dein Zorn gegen die Flüsse entbrannt, gegen die Flüsse dein Zorn und dein Groll gegen das Meer, dass du mit deinen Rossen heranstürmst und mit deinen siegreichen Wagen?
Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?
Du hast deinen Bogen aus der Hülle genommen, gesättigt sind die Pfeile mit Botschaft. [Sela] Du spaltest die Erde und es brechen Ströme hervor.
Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
Wenn sie dich sehen, erbeben die Berge, das Tosen der Wasser rauscht vorüber; es erhebt die Urflut ihre Stimme, hoch oben vergisst die Sonne ihre Strahlen.
The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.
Der Mond bleibt in der Behausung; als Beleuchtung schwirren deine Pfeile, als heller Schein das Blitzen deiner Lanze.
The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
Voll Zorn schreitest du über die Erde, in deinem Groll zerstampfst du die Völker.
Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.
Du ziehst aus, um dein Volk zu retten, um deinem Gesalbten zu helfen. Vom Haus des Ruchlosen schlägst du den Dachfirst weg und legst das Fundament frei bis hinab auf den Felsen. [Sela]
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.
Du durchbohrst mit seinen eigenen Pfeilen den Kopf seiner Krieger; sie stürmten heran, um mich zu verjagen; das ist ihr Übermut, gleichwie der, der darauf aus ist, den Armen zu fressen im Versteck.
Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.
Du bahnst mit deinen Rossen den Weg durch das Meer, durch das gewaltig schäumende Wasser.
Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.
Ich zitterte am ganzen Leib, als ich es hörte, ich vernahm den Lärm und ich schrie. Fäulnis befällt meine Glieder und es wanken meine Schritte. Doch in Ruhe erwarte ich den Tag der Not, der dem Volk bevorsteht, das über uns herfällt.
When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.
Zwar blüht der Feigenbaum nicht, an den Reben ist nichts zu ernten, der Ölbaum bringt keinen Ertrag, die Kornfelder tragen keine Frucht; im Pferch sind keine Schafe, im Stall steht kein Rind mehr.
Habakkuk Rejoices
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

Ich aber will jubeln über den HERRN und mich freuen über Gott, meinen Retter.
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
GOTT, der Herr, ist meine Kraft. Er macht meine Füße schnell wie die Füße der Hirsche und lässt mich schreiten auf den Höhen. Dem Chormeister. Zum Saitenspiel.
