Dann wendeten wir uns dem Weg zum Baschan zu und zogen hinauf. Og, der König des Baschan, rückte mit seinem ganzen Volk gegen uns aus, um bei Edreï zu kämpfen.
The Defeat of King Og
“Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan. And Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

Der HERR sagte zu mir: Fürchte ihn nicht, denn ich gebe ihn, sein ganzes Volk und sein Land in deine Hand. Tu mit ihm, was du mit Sihon getan hast, dem König der Amoriter, der in Heschbon seinen Sitz hatte!
But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand. And you shall do to him as you did to Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’
Und der HERR, unser Gott, gab auch Og, den König des Baschan, und sein ganzes Volk in unsere Hand. Wir schlugen ihn und ließen keinen überleben.
So the Lord our God gave into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people, and we struck him down until he had no survivor left.
Damals eroberten wir alle seine Städte. Es gab keine befestigte Stadt, die wir ihnen nicht genommen hätten: sechzig Städte, den ganzen Bezirk von Argob, das Königreich des Og im Baschan.
And we took all his cities at that time — there was not a city that we did not take from them — sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Alle diese Städte waren durch hohe Mauern, Torflügel und Torbalken befestigt. Hinzu kamen die zahlreichen offenen Landstädte.
All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides very many unwalled villages.
Wir vollzogen an ihnen den Bann, wie wir es mit Sihon, dem König von Heschbon, getan hatten. Wir vollzogen den Bann an der ganzen Bevölkerung, auch an den Frauen samt Kindern und Alten.
Alles Vieh und das, was wir in den Städten geplündert hatten, behielten wir als Beute.
But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as our plunder.
Damals entrissen wir der Gewalt der beiden Amoriterkönige jenseits des Jordan das Land vom Arnontal bis zum Gebirge Hermon —
So we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the Valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon
die Sidonier nennen den Hermon Sirjon, die Amoriter nennen ihn Senir — ,
(the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, while the Amorites call it Senir),
alle Städte der Hochebene, ganz Gilead und den ganzen Baschan bis nach Salcha und Edreï, das heißt nur die Städte des Königreichs Ogs im Baschan.
all the cities of the tableland and all Gilead and all Bashan, as far as Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Denn Og, der König des Baschan, war als Einziger von den letzten Rafaïtern noch übrig geblieben. Sein Bett war aus Eisen. Steht es nicht in Rabba, der Hauptstadt der Ammoniter? Es ist neun gewöhnliche Ellen lang und vier breit.
Dieses Land nahmen wir damals in Besitz. Von Aroër an, das am Arnontal liegt, einschließlich der Hälfte des Gebirges Gilead und ihrer Städte, übergab ich es den Rubenitern und Gaditern.
“When we took possession of this land at that time, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory beginning at Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with its cities.

The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, all the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All that portion of Bashan is called the land of Rephaim.
Jaïr, der Sohn Manasses, übernahm den ganzen Bezirk von Argob einschließlich des Gebiets der Geschuriter und der Maachatiter und benannte sie nach seinem eigenen Namen: Er nannte den Baschan Hawot-Jaïr, Zeltdörfer Jaïrs. So heißt er noch heute.
Jair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.)
den Rubenitern und Gaditern aber gab ich das Gebiet von Gilead bis zum Arnontal, das Tal selbst und das zugehörige Gebiet bis zum Jabbok, wo das Tal die Grenze zu den Ammonitern bildet,
and to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Valley of the Arnon, with the middle of the valley as a border, as far over as the river Jabbok, the border of the Ammonites;
dazu die Araba und den Jordan mit dem zugehörigen Gebiet, vom See Kinneret bis zum Meer der Araba, dem Salzmeer am Fuß der Steilhänge des Pisga, nach Osten hin.
the Arabah also, with the Jordan as the border, from Chinnereth as far as the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah on the east.
Damals gebot ich euch: Der HERR, euer Gott, hat euch dieses Land gegeben, sodass ihr es in Besitz genommen habt. Doch jetzt, in Waffen, sollt ihr zunächst mit allen Wehrfähigen an der Spitze eurer Brüder, der Israeliten, über den Jordan ziehen.
“And I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All your men of valor shall cross over armed before your brothers, the people of Israel.
Nur eure Frauen, Kinder, Alten und Herden — ich weiß, ihr habt viele Herden — sollen in den Städten bleiben, die ich für euch bestimmt habe.
Only your wives, your little ones, and your livestock (I know that you have much livestock) shall remain in the cities that I have given you,
Erst wenn der HERR euren Brüdern wie euch Ruhe verschafft hat, erst wenn auch sie das Land jenseits des Jordan in Besitz genommen haben, das der HERR, euer Gott, ihnen gibt, dürft ihr zurückkehren, jeder zu seinem Besitz, den ich für euch bestimmt habe.
until the Lord gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also occupy the land that the Lord your God gives them beyond the Jordan. Then each of you may return to his possession which I have given you.’
Damals gebot ich Josua: Du hast mit eigenen Augen alles gesehen, was der HERR, euer Gott, mit diesen beiden Königen getan hat. Das Gleiche wird der HERR mit allen Königreichen tun, zu denen du hinüberziehst.
And I commanded Joshua at that time, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. So will the Lord do to all the kingdoms into which you are crossing.
Ihr sollt sie nicht fürchten; denn der HERR, euer Gott, ist es, der für euch kämpft.
You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.’
Damals rief ich den HERRN um Gnade für mich an:
Moses Forbidden to Enter the Land
“And I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying,
“And I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying,
Herr und GOTT! Du hast angefangen, deinen Knecht deine Macht und deine starke Hand schauen zu lassen. Welcher Gott im Himmel oder auf der Erde hat etwas vollbracht, was deinen Taten und deinen Siegen vergleichbar wäre?
‘O Lord God, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours?
Lass mich doch hinüberziehen! Lass mich das prächtige Land jenseits des Jordan sehen, dieses prächtige Bergland und den Libanon!
Please let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon.’
Doch euretwegen zürnte mir der HERR und erhörte mich nicht. Der HERR sagte zu mir: Genug! Trag mir diese Sache niemals wieder vor!
But the Lord was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. And the Lord said to me, ‘Enough from you; do not speak to me of this matter again.
Steig auf den Gipfel des Pisga, richte die Augen nach Westen, nach Norden, nach Süden und nach Osten und schau mit eigenen Augen hinüber! Hinüberziehen über den Jordan hier wirst du nicht.
Go up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward, and look at it with your eyes, for you shall not go over this Jordan.
Beauftrage Josua, übertrag ihm Vollmacht und Kraft: Er soll an der Spitze dieses Volkes hinüberziehen. Er soll an sie das Land als Erbbesitz verteilen, das du nur schauen darfst.
But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall go over at the head of this people, and he shall put them in possession of the land that you shall see.’
