Dem Stamm des Manasse — er war der Erstgeborene Josefs — fiel durch das Los folgender Anteil zu: Machir, der Erstgeborene Manasses, der Vater Gileads — er war ein kampferprobter Mann — erhielt Gilead und den Baschan.

Now this was the lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. To Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.

Auch die übrigen Söhne Manasses erhielten einen Anteil entsprechend ihren Sippen: die Söhne Abiësers, die Söhne Heleks, die Söhne Asriëls, die Söhne Schechems, die Söhne Hefers und die Söhne Schemidas; das sind die männlichen Nachkommen Manasses, des Sohnes Josefs, mit ihren Sippen.
So the lot was made for the rest of the sons of Manasseh according to their families: for the sons of Abiezer and for the sons of Helek and for the sons of Asriel and for the sons of Shechem and for the sons of Hepher and for the sons of Shemida; these were the male descendants of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.
Zelofhad aber, der Sohn Hefers, des Sohnes Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, hatte keine Söhne, sondern nur Töchter. Seine Töchter hatten folgende Namen: Machla, Noa, Hogla, Milka und Tirza.
However, Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, only daughters; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.
Sie erschienen vor dem Priester Eleasar und vor Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und vor den Anführern und sagten: Der HERR hat Mose befohlen, uns Erbbesitz im Kreis unserer Brüder zu geben. Da gab er ihnen, gemäß der Anweisung des HERRN, Erbbesitz im Kreis der Brüder ihres Vaters.
They came near before Eleazar the priest and before Joshua the son of Nun and before the leaders, saying, “The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers.” So according to the command of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among their father’s brothers.
So entfielen auf Manasse, abgesehen vom Land Gilead und dem Baschan, die jenseits des Jordan liegen, zehn Anteile.
Thus there fell ten portions to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is beyond the Jordan,

because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons. And the land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh.
Das Gebiet Manasses reicht vom Gebiet Aschers bis nach Michmetat, das gegenüber von Sichem liegt. Von dort verläuft die Grenze nach Süden bis zu den Einwohnern von En-Tappuach.
The border of Manasseh ran from Asher to Michmethath which was east of Shechem; then the border went southward to the inhabitants of En-tappuah.
Manasse wurde das Land von Tappuach zuteil, Tappuach selbst aber, an der Grenze Manasses, den Efraimitern.
The land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the sons of Ephraim.
Dann zieht sich die Grenze hinab zum Bach Kana; südlich des Bachs gehören einzelne Städte mitten unter den Städten Manasses zu Efraim. Nördlich des Bachs ist die Grenze Manasses; sie läuft am Meer aus.
The border went down to the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook (these cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh), and the border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook and it ended at the sea.
Das Gebiet im Süden gehört Efraim und das Gebiet im Norden Manasse, dessen Grenze das Meer bildet. Im Norden grenzen sie an Ascher, im Osten an Issachar.
The south side belonged to Ephraim and the north side to Manasseh, and the sea was their border; and they reached to Asher on the north and to Issachar on the east.
Manasse erhielt in Issachar und in Ascher Bet-Schean und seine Tochterstädte, Jibleam und seine Tochterstädte, die Einwohner von Dor und seinen Tochterstädten, die Einwohner von En-Dor und seinen Tochterstädten, die Einwohner von Taanach und seinen Tochterstädten, die Einwohner von Megiddo und seinen Tochterstädten, wobei die dritte Stadt Nafet ist.
In Issachar and in Asher, Manasseh had Beth-shean and its towns and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, the third is Napheth.
Doch die Manassiter konnten diese Städte nicht in Besitz nehmen; es gelang den Kanaanitern, ihre Wohnsitze in diesem Land zu halten.
But the sons of Manasseh could not take possession of these cities, because the Canaanites persisted in living in that land.
Als die Israeliten jedoch stark geworden waren, zwangen sie die Kanaaniter zur Fron; aber ganz vertreiben konnten sie sie nicht.
It came about when the sons of Israel became strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but they did not drive them out completely.
Die Nachkommen Josefs sagten zu Josua: Warum hast du uns nur ein einziges Los und nur einen einzigen Anteil als Erbbesitz gegeben, obwohl wir ein zahlreiches Volk sind, nachdem uns der HERR so sehr gesegnet hat?
Then the sons of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, “Why have you given me only one lot and one portion for an inheritance, since I am a numerous people whom the LORD has thus far blessed?”
Josua antwortete ihnen: Wenn ihr ein so zahlreiches Volk seid, dann steigt doch hinauf in das Waldgebiet und rodet für euch dort im Land der Perisiter und Rafaïter, wenn euch das Gebirge Efraim zu eng ist.
Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go up to the forest and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”
Da sagten die Nachkommen Josefs: Das Bergland reicht für uns nicht aus. Im ebenen Land aber wohnen die Kanaaniter, die alle eiserne Kampfwagen haben, wie etwa die Leute in Bet-Schean und seinen Tochterstädten und die Leute in der Ebene Jesreel.
The sons of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the valley land have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth-shean and its towns and those who are in the valley of Jezreel.”
Josua erwiderte dem Haus Josef, Efraim und Manasse: Ihr seid ein zahlreiches Volk und habt große Kraft. Ihr erhaltet nicht nur einen einzigen Anteil;
Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, saying, “You are a numerous people and have great power; you shall not have one lot only,
denn auch das Bergland soll euch gehören. Es ist bewaldet; ihr könnt es roden. Das so gewonnene Land soll euch gehören, denn ihr werdet die Kanaaniter vertreiben, auch wenn sie eiserne Kampfwagen haben und stark sind.
but the hill country shall be yours. For though it is a forest, you shall clear it, and to its farthest borders it shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, even though they have chariots of iron and though they are strong.”
