Hoffnung für Alle
Bei der Auslosung waren die Nachkommen von Eleasar und Itamar abwechselnd an der Reihe. Dabei waren anwesend: der König, die führenden Männer Israels, der Priester Zadok, Ahimelech, der Sohn von Abjatar, und die Sippenoberhäupter der Priester und Leviten. Der Schreiber Schemaja, ein Sohn von Netanel aus dem Stamm Levi, schrieb die Dienstgruppen in der Reihenfolge auf, in der sie ausgelost wurden:

Und der Schreiber Semaja, der Sohn Nathanaels, aus den Leviten, schrieb sie auf vor dem König und vor den Obersten und vor Zadok, dem Priester, und vor Ahimelech, dem Sohn Abjathars, und vor den Obersten der Vaterhäuser unter den Priestern und Leviten, nämlich je ein Vaterhaus für Eleasar und das andere für Ithamar.

Der Schreiber Schemaja, der Sohn Netanels, ein Levit, schrieb sie auf im Beisein des Königs, der führenden Männer, des Priesters Zadok, Ahimelechs, des Sohnes Abjatars, sowie der Familienhäupter der Priester und Leviten. Jeweils zwei Großfamilien wurden aus der Linie Eleasars und eine aus der Linie Itamars ausgelost.
