Hoffnung für Alle
Du lebenslustige Stadt voller Betriebsamkeit und Lärm: Was ist mit all den Toten, die hier herumliegen? Fielen sie etwa dem Schwert zum Opfer? Sind sie ehrenvoll im Krieg gefallen?

Du warst voll Getönes, eine Stadt voll Volks, eine fröhliche Stadt. Deine Erschlagenen sind nicht mit dem Schwert erschlagen und nicht im Streit gestorben;

Vom Lärm erfüllte, tobende Stätte, fröhliche Stadt! Deine Durchbohrten sind nicht vom Schwert durchbohrt und keine Toten des Krieges.
