Warning of Jerusalem’s Fall
Thus says the LORD, “Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and there speak this word

und dort zu verkünden: »Höre, was der HERR dir zu sagen hat, König von Juda, du Nachkomme von David, dir, deinen obersten Beamten und deinem Volk, das durch diese Tore zum Palast hineingeht!
and say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, who sits on David’s throne, you and your servants and your people who enter these gates.
So spricht der HERR: Sorgt für Recht und Gerechtigkeit! Helft den Menschen, die beraubt und unterdrückt werden! Den Ausländern, Waisen und Witwen tut keine Gewalt an und nutzt sie nicht aus! Hört auf, hier das Blut unschuldiger Menschen zu vergießen!
‘Thus says the LORD, “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one who has been robbed from the power of his oppressor. Also do not mistreat or do violence to the stranger, the orphan, or the widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place.
Wenn ihr euch daran haltet, dann werden in diesem Palast auch weiterhin Könige regieren, die Nachkommen von David sind. Mit Pferden und Wagen werden sie durch die Tore ein- und ausziehen, begleitet von ihren obersten Beamten und ihrem Gefolge.
“For if you men will indeed perform this thing, then kings will enter the gates of this house, sitting in David’s place on his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, even the king himself and his servants and his people.
Doch wenn ihr nicht auf meine Worte hört, wird dieser Palast zum Trümmerhaufen. Das schwöre ich, der HERR.
“But if you will not obey these words, I swear by Myself,” declares the LORD, “that this house will become a desolation.”’”
Prächtig bist du, Palast der Könige von Juda, wie der Wald im Land Gilead und wie der Gipfel des Libanon — und dennoch will ich dich zur Ruine machen, zu einem unbewohnten Ort! Mein Wort gilt!

Like the summit of Lebanon;
Yet most assuredly I will make you like a wilderness,
Like cities which are not inhabited.

Ich sende Männer, die dich zerstören sollen. Mit ihren Äxten werden sie deine Zedernsäulen fällen und ins Feuer werfen.
“For I will set apart destroyers against you,
Each with his weapons;
And they will cut down your choicest cedars
And throw them on the fire.

Dann werden fremde Völker hier vorüberziehen und einander fragen: ›Warum hat der HERR dies mit der großen Stadt getan?‹

Und man wird antworten: ›Ihre Einwohner haben den Bund mit dem HERRN, ihrem Gott, gebrochen. Sie haben andere Götter verehrt und ihnen gedient.‹«
“Then they will answer, ‘Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD their God and bowed down to other gods and served them.’”
»Beweint nicht den Tod von König Josia, trauert nicht um ihn! Weint vielmehr über König Schallum, der nun weggeführt wurde! Denn er kehrt nicht mehr zurück und wird seine Heimat nie wiedersehen.

Ich, der HERR, sage über Schallum, den Sohn von Josia, der nach dem Tod seines Vaters König von Juda wurde: Er musste fortziehen von hier und wird niemals zurückkehren.

Sterben wird er dort, wohin er als Gefangener verschleppt wurde, und sein Land wird er nie wiedersehen!«

»Wehe dem, der seinen Palast ausbaut und dabei Unrecht tut, indem er seine Untertanen unentgeltlich arbeiten lässt und sie um den gerechten Lohn bringt!
Messages about the Kings

Bist du deshalb ein großer König, weil du prunkvolle Bauten aus Zedernholz errichtest, die schöner sind als andere? Auch dein Vater hat sein Leben genossen, doch er sorgte für Recht und Gerechtigkeit, und darum ging es ihm gut.

Er verhalf den Armen und Bedürftigen zu ihrem Recht und hatte Erfolg bei dem, was er tat. Wer so lebt, hat mich, den HERRN, wirklich erkannt.

Aber du hast nur eins im Sinn: Gewinn um jeden Preis! Du bringst unschuldige Menschen um, wenn du irgendeinen Vorteil davon hast; vor Unterdrückung und Erpressung schreckst du nicht zurück.

Hört darum, was ich, der HERR, über Jojakim sage, den Sohn König Josias von Juda: Man wird um ihn nicht trauern und das Klagelied ›Ach, mein Bruder‹ anstimmen. Um ihn wird keiner weinen: ›Ach, unser König und Herrscher!‹

‘Alas, my brother!’ or, ‘Alas, sister!’

Nein, wie einen toten Esel schleift man ihn fort und wirft ihn weg, draußen vor die Tore von Jerusalem!«

Ich habe dich gewarnt, als du noch in Sicherheit lebtest, aber du hast dich geweigert, auf mich zu hören. Von Anfang an war es deine Art, meine Worte zu missachten.
“I spoke to you in your prosperity;
But you said, ‘I will not listen!’
This has been your practice from your youth,
That you have not obeyed My voice.

Deine Führer werden weggeführt, weggefegt wie von einem Sturm, und deine Verbündeten werden gefangen genommen und verschleppt. Dann wirst du gedemütigt und musst dich schämen wegen all deiner Bosheit!

Noch wohnst du ungestört im Libanonpalast, du hast dich in Zedernbauten eingenistet — doch wie wirst du stöhnen, wenn dich die Schmerzen überfallen wie Geburtswehen eine Frau!

Pain like a woman in childbirth!

Ich, der HERR, sage zu Jojachin, dem König von Juda, dem Sohn von Jojakim: Ich schwöre dir, so wahr ich lebe: Selbst wenn ich dich als Siegelring an meiner rechten Hand trüge, würde ich dich doch vom Finger reißen!
“As I live,” declares the LORD, “even though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were a signet ring on My right hand, yet I would pull you off;
Ich werde dich deinen Todfeinden ausliefern, vor denen du dich so sehr fürchtest, dem babylonischen König Nebukadnezar und seinen Truppen.
and I will give you over into the hand of those who are seeking your life, yes, into the hand of those whom you dread, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
Dich und deine Mutter jage ich fort in ein fremdes Land, aus dem keiner von euch beiden stammt, und dort werdet ihr sterben.
“I will hurl you and your mother who bore you into another country where you were not born, and there you will die.
Doch in eure Heimat, nach der ihr euch sehnt, werdet ihr nie mehr zurückkehren!«

Ihr fragt: »Ist König Jojachin wirklich wie ein zerbrochenes Tongefäß, das keiner mehr gebrauchen kann? Warum jagt man ihn und seine Kinder fort in ein unbekanntes Land?«

Hört her, ihr Bewohner des ganzen Landes, hört auf das Wort des HERRN!
“O land, land, land,

So spricht der HERR: »Tragt diesen Mann als kinderlos in die Verzeichnisse ein; sein Leben lang hat er kein Glück! Keinem seiner Kinder wird es gelingen, als Nachkomme von David in Juda zu regieren!«

‘Write this man down childless,
A man who will not prosper in his days;
For no man of his descendants will prosper
Sitting on the throne of David
Or ruling again in Judah.’”
