Einige der führenden Männer Israels kamen zu mir, weil sie Gott durch mich befragen wollten. Sie setzten sich vor mich hin und warteten.
Idolatrous Elders Condemned
Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.
Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.
Da empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sagte:
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
»Du Mensch, diese Männer haben ihr Herz an die Götzen gehängt. Sie haben nur noch ihre scheußlichen Götter im Sinn, die sie zur Sünde verführen — und nun soll ich ihnen antworten und helfen?
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?
Richte ihnen aus: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Wenn jemand vom Volk Israel Götzen anbetet, sich gegen mich auflehnt und dann auch noch zum Propheten kommt, um mich zu befragen, werde ich, der HERR, ihm tatsächlich eine Antwort geben — und zwar die Antwort, die er bei der Menge seiner Götzen verdient hat!
Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
Ja, ich werde die Israeliten hart anfassen, weil sie sich von mir abgewandt haben und ihre Götzen verehren.
That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
Darum verkünde dem ganzen Volk, was ich, Gott, der HERR, ihnen sage: Kehrt um, wendet euch ab von euren Göttern und sagt euch los von eurem abscheulichen Götzendienst!
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Ich sage es noch einmal: Wenn jemand vom Volk Israel und von den Fremden, die bei euch leben, sich von mir abwendet, seine Götzen anbetet und von mir nichts mehr wissen will, dann braucht er erst gar nicht zum Propheten zu gehen. Denn wenn er mich durch den Propheten um Rat fragen will, werde ich selbst, der HERR, ihm die passende Antwort geben.
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
Ja, ein solcher Mensch bekommt es mit mir zu tun! Was ich ihm antue, soll allen zur Warnung dienen; sein Unglück wird sprichwörtlich sein. Ich verstoße ihn aus meinem Volk und vernichte ihn. Daran sollt ihr erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
Lässt ein Prophet sich dazu hinreißen, dem Götzendiener eigenmächtig ein Wort von mir zu verkünden, dann geschieht es, weil ich, der HERR, ihn dazu verleitet habe! Drohend erhebe ich auch gegen ihn meine Hand, ja, ich verstoße ihn aus meinem Volk und vernichte ihn.
And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
Also müssen beide — der Götzendiener, der fragt, und der Prophet, der eigenmächtig antwortet — die gleiche Strafe tragen, denn ihre Schuld ist gleich groß.
And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;
So warne ich das Volk Israel, damit sie mir nicht mehr den Rücken kehren und sich nicht länger durch ihre Sünden verunreinigen. Sie werden mein Volk sein, und ich werde ihr Gott sein. Das verspreche ich, Gott, der HERR!«
That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.
Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
God's Irrevocable Sentence
The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,
The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,
»Du Mensch, stell dir vor, ein Land bricht mir die Treue und sündigt gegen mich, und ich lasse zur Strafe die Lebensmittelvorräte zu Ende gehen und schicke eine Hungersnot ins Land, durch die Menschen und Tiere umkommen.
Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
Selbst wenn in diesem Land die drei Männer Noah, Daniel und Hiob lebten, könnten sie trotz all ihrer Rechtschaffenheit doch nur ihr eigenes Leben retten! Das sage ich, Gott, der HERR.
Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.
Oder stell dir vor, ich lasse Raubtiere ein Land durchstreifen und die Bewohner töten, und das Land wird zur trostlosen Wüste, weil aus Angst kein Mensch mehr hindurchreist.
If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:
Selbst wenn diese drei Männer darin lebten, könnten sie noch nicht einmal ihre Söhne und Töchter retten, sondern nur sich selbst. Das Land aber würde zur Einöde werden. Das schwöre ich, der HERR, so wahr ich lebe!
Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.
Oder stell dir vor, ich lasse Krieg in einem Land ausbrechen und Mensch und Tier durch das Schwert umkommen.
Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:
Selbst wenn diese drei Männer darin lebten, könnten sie noch nicht einmal ihre Söhne und Töchter retten, sondern nur sich selbst. Das schwöre ich, der HERR, so wahr ich lebe!
Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.
Oder stell dir vor, ich schicke die Pest in ein Land und rotte in meinem Zorn Mensch und Tier erbarmungslos aus.
Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:
Selbst wenn Noah, Daniel und Hiob darin lebten, könnten sie noch nicht einmal ihre Söhne und Töchter retten, sondern nur sich selbst, weil sie sich treu an mein Recht hielten. Das schwöre ich, der HERR, so wahr ich lebe!
Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
Und nun sage ich, Gott, der HERR: Wie wird es erst sein, wenn ich meine vier schrecklichsten Strafen — Krieg, Hunger, Raubtiere und Pest — auf einen Schlag über Jerusalem hereinbrechen lasse und Mensch und Tier darin ausrotte!
For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
Und doch sorge ich dafür, dass einige Menschen in der Stadt am Leben bleiben. Zusammen mit ihren Söhnen und Töchtern werden sie zu euch in die Verbannung verschleppt. Wenn ihr dann ihr abscheuliches Tun und Treiben mit anschauen müsst, werdet ihr einsehen, dass mein Gericht über Jerusalem eine gerechte Strafe war.
Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
Es wird euch trösten, wenn ihr seht, dass ich Jerusalem nicht ohne Grund zerstört habe. Darauf gebe ich, Gott, der HERR, mein Wort.«
And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.
