In diesem Buch sind die Botschaften aufgeschrieben, die Micha aus Moreschet vom HERRN empfing. Während der Regierungszeit der judäischen Könige Jotam, Ahas und Hiskia offenbarte ihm Gott, was mit Samaria und Jerusalem geschehen würde:

The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

Hört zu, all ihr Völker! Gebt acht, ihr Bewohner der Erde! Gott, der HERR, tritt als Zeuge gegen Israel auf, er kommt aus seinem heiligen Tempel.
Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
Seht! Von seiner Wohnung im Himmel steigt er herab und schreitet über die Gipfel der Erde.
For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
Unter seinen Schritten schmelzen die Berge wie Wachs im Feuer, sie fließen in die Ebene, wie Wasser den Abhang hinabschießt. In den Tälern brechen tiefe Spalten auf.
And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.
Dies geschieht, weil die Israeliten, die Nachkommen von Jakob, gegen den Herrn gesündigt und ihm den Rücken gekehrt haben. Wer ist verantwortlich für Israels Schuld? Seine Hauptstadt Samaria! Und wer hat Juda zum Götzendienst an den Opferstätten verführt? Seine Hauptstadt Jerusalem!
For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?
Darum sagt der Herr: »Ich werde Samaria bis auf die Grundmauern niederreißen und die Trümmer ins Tal hinunterwerfen. Ich mache die Stadt dem Erdboden gleich; dort, wo sie lag, wird man dann Weinberge anlegen!
Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.
Alle Götzenstatuen von Samaria lasse ich in Stücke hauen, die geschnitzten Bilder werden ein Raub der Flammen. Mit den kostbaren Gegenständen, die man vom Lohn der Tempelhuren angeschafft hat, bezahlen die Plünderer dann wiederum ihre Huren.«
And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.
Darum klage und weine ich, voller Trauer gehe ich barfuß und ohne Obergewand umher. Ich heule wie ein Schakal, schreie wie ein Strauß.

Denn Samarias Wunden sind unheilbar, und auch Juda wird nicht verschont. Ja, selbst Jerusalem, die Hauptstadt meines Volkes, ist dem Untergang nah!
For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
Erzählt den Philistern in Gat nichts davon, zeigt ihnen nicht eure Tränen! Wälzt euch vor Verzweiflung im Staub von Bet-Leafra!
Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.
Flieht nackt in Schimpf und Schande, ihr Einwohner von Schafir! Ihr von Zaanan, ihr werdet es nicht einmal mehr wagen, eure Stadt zu verlassen! Bet-Ezel bietet euch keinen Schutz mehr, man hört dort nur noch lautes Klagen.
Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.
Die Einwohner von Marot zittern vor Angst und hoffen, noch einmal davonzukommen, denn der HERR lässt die Feinde schon bis vor die Tore von Jerusalem heranrücken.
For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.
Spannt die Pferde an und flieht, ihr Leute von Lachisch! Ihr habt die Menschen in Zion zur Sünde verführt, ihr seid genauso gottlos wie das Nordreich Israel!
O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee.
Darum müsst ihr auch Moreschet im Gebiet von Gat hergeben. Auf die Stadt Achsib hatten die Könige von Israel ihre Hoffnung gesetzt. Doch sie werden enttäuscht wie von einem Bach, dessen Wasser im Sommer versiegt.
Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.
Ihr Einwohner von Marescha, eure Stadt wird ebenfalls dem Eroberer zum Opfer fallen, den Gott euch schickt! Dann werden sich Israels vornehme Männer in der Adullamhöhle verstecken müssen.
Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.
Schneide dir in Trauer die Haare ab, Juda, bis du kahl bist wie ein Geier! Denn deine Bewohner, deine geliebten Kinder, werden in ein fremdes Land verschleppt!
Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.
