“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Nehmt euch also in Acht! Wenn dein Bruder Schuld auf sich geladen hat, dann weise ihn zurecht. Bereut er sein Handeln, dann vergib ihm!
“Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
Und wenn er dir siebenmal am Tag Unrecht tut und dich immer wieder um Vergebung bittet: Vergib ihm!«
“And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
Die Apostel baten Jesus, den Herrn: »Hilf uns, dass unser Glaube größer wird!«
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Darauf antwortete er: »Wenn euer Glaube nur so groß wäre wie ein Senfkorn, könntet ihr zu diesem Maulbeerbaum sagen: ›Reiß dich mitsamt deinen Wurzeln aus der Erde und verpflanze dich ins Meer!‹ — es würde sofort geschehen.«
And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you.
»Stellt euch vor«, sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern, »ihr habt einen Knecht, der vom Pflügen oder Schafehüten heimkommt. Was tut ihr dann? Sagt ihr etwa zu ihm: ›Komm an den Tisch und iss‹?
“Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come immediately and sit down to eat’?
Doch bestimmt nicht! Ihr gebt ihm den Auftrag: ›Mach mir etwas zu essen, binde dir eine Schürze um und bediene mich bei Tisch! Wenn ich fertig bin, dann kannst du auch essen und trinken.‹
“But will he not say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, and properly clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink’?
Kann der Knecht dafür etwa einen besonderen Dank erwarten? Ich meine nicht! Es gehört doch schließlich zu seiner Arbeit.
“He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?
Das gilt auch für euch. Wenn ihr alles getan habt, was ich euch befohlen habe, dann sollt ihr sagen: ›Wir sind einfache Knechte und haben nur unseren Auftrag ausgeführt!‹«
“So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’”
Auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem zog Jesus mit seinen Jüngern durch das Grenzgebiet von Samarien und Galiläa.
Ten Lepers Cleansed
While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
Kurz vor einem Dorf begegneten ihm zehn Aussätzige. Im vorgeschriebenen Abstand blieben sie stehen
As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;
und riefen: »Jesus, Herr! Hab Erbarmen mit uns!«
and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
Er sah sie an und forderte sie auf: »Geht zu den Priestern und zeigt ihnen, dass ihr geheilt seid!« Auf dem Weg dorthin wurden sie gesund.
When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed.
Einer von ihnen lief zu Jesus zurück, als er merkte, dass er geheilt war. Laut lobte er Gott.
Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
Er warf sich vor Jesus nieder und dankte ihm. Es war ein Mann aus Samarien.
and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
Jesus fragte: »Waren es nicht zehn Männer, die gesund geworden sind? Wo sind denn die anderen neun?
Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine — where are they?
Wie kann es sein, dass nur einer zurückkommt, um sich bei Gott zu bedanken, noch dazu ein Fremder?«
“Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”
Zu dem Samariter aber sagte er: »Steh wieder auf! Dein Glaube hat dich geheilt.«
And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.”
Die Pharisäer wollten von Jesus wissen: »Wann wird denn Gottes Reich kommen?« Er antwortete ihnen: »Gottes Reich kann man nicht sehen wie ein irdisches Reich.
Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;
Niemand wird sagen können: ›Hier ist es!‹ oder ›Dort ist es!‹ Denn Gottes Reich ist schon jetzt da — mitten unter euch.«
nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
Zu seinen Jüngern aber sagte er: »Die Zeit wird kommen, wo ihr alles dafür geben würdet, auch nur einen einzigen Tag die Herrlichkeit des Menschensohnes mitzuerleben. Aber dieser Wunsch wird sich nicht erfüllen.
Second Coming Foretold
And He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
Man wird euch zwar einreden wollen: ›Seht doch! Hier ist er!‹ oder ›Dort ist er!‹ Geht niemals dorthin und lauft solchen Leuten nicht nach!
“They will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!’ Do not go away, and do not run after them.
Denn wenn der Tag da ist, kommt der Menschensohn für alle sichtbar — wie ein Blitz, der den ganzen Horizont erhellt.
“For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
Aber vorher muss der Menschensohn noch viel leiden und es erdulden, dass ihn die Menschen dieser Generation von sich stoßen.«
“But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
»Wenn der Menschensohn kommt, wird es sein wie zur Zeit von Noah.
“And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
Die Menschen aßen, tranken und heirateten, wie sie es immer taten. So ging es, bis Noah in die Arche stieg. Dann kam die große Flut, und keiner von ihnen überlebte.
they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Es wird genauso sein wie zu Lots Zeiten. Auch damals ging alles seinen gewohnten Gang: Die Menschen aßen und tranken, kauften und verkauften, pflanzten und bauten.
“It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
So ging es bis zu dem Tag, an dem Lot die Stadt Sodom verließ. Da regnete es Feuer und Schwefel vom Himmel, und alle kamen um.
but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
Genauso wird es sein, wenn der Menschensohn erscheint.
“It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
Wer sich dann gerade auf dem Dach seines Hauses aufhält, soll nicht erst im Haus seine Sachen für die Flucht packen. Und dasselbe gilt für den, der auf dem Feld arbeitet: Er soll nicht erst in sein Haus zurückkehren.
“On that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back.
Wer sich an sein Leben klammert, der wird es verlieren. Wer aber sein Leben aufgibt, der wird es für immer bewahren.«
“Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
»Ich sage euch: Zwei schlafen in jener Nacht in einem Bett; einer wird angenommen, und der andere bleibt zurück.
“I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.
Zwei Frauen werden gemeinsam Getreide mahlen; die eine wird angenommen, und die andere bleibt zurück.«
“There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left.
»Herr, wo wird sich das ereignen?«, fragten die Jünger. Da antwortete ihnen Jesus: »Das werdet ihr schon sehen. Auch die Geier erkennen, wo ein verendetes Tier liegt, und sammeln sich dort.«
And answering they said to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, “Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”
