Sie antworteten: Wir können nicht, bis daß alle Herden zusammengebracht werden und wir den Stein von des Brunnens Loch wälzen und also die Schafe tränken.

»Nein, das geht nicht«, entgegneten sie. »Wir warten so lange, bis alle Hirten mit ihren Herden eingetroffen sind. Dann wälzen wir den Stein gemeinsam vom Brunnenloch und tränken unsere Tiere.«

Da sagten sie: Das können wir nicht, bevor nicht alle Herden sich eingefunden haben. Erst dann wird man den Stein von der Brunnenöffnung wegwälzen und die Schafe und Ziegen tränken.
