Aber Serubabel und Jesua und die andern Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel antworteten ihnen: Es ziemt sich nicht, uns und euch, das Haus unsers Gottes zu bauen; sondern wir wollen allein bauen dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, wie uns Kores, der König in Persien, geboten hat.

Doch Serubbabel, Jeschua und die übrigen Sippenoberhäupter von Israel entgegneten: »Nein, ihr könnt euch an dieser Arbeit nicht beteiligen. Wir allein werden für unseren Gott einen Tempel bauen. Uns hat Kyrus, der König von Persien, damit beauftragt!«

Aber Serubbabel, Jeschua und die übrigen Oberhäupter der Großfamilien Israels erwiderten ihnen: Es geht nicht, dass wir mit euch zusammen unserem Gott ein Haus bauen, sondern wir allein wollen für den HERRN, den Gott Israels, bauen, wie es uns König Kyrus, der König von Persien, geboten hat.
