Nun aber redet der HERR und spricht: In drei Jahren, wie eines Tagelöhners Jahre sind, wird die Herrlichkeit Moabs gering werden bei all der großen Menge, daß gar wenig übrigbleibe und nicht viel.

Jetzt sagt er: »In genau drei Jahren — nicht früher und nicht später — wird man über den heutigen Ruhm und Glanz der Moabiter nur noch verächtlich lächeln. Von ihrem großen Volk wird nichts übrig bleiben als ein kleiner Rest, winzig und bedeutungslos.«

Jetzt aber hat der HERR so gesprochen: In drei Jahren — wie Söldnerjahren — wird Moabs Herrlichkeit mit all dem vielen Getöse verachtet sein. Und der Rest wird wenig sein, winzig, machtlos.
