Und Saul sprach: Laßt uns hinabziehen den Philistern nach bei der Nacht und sie berauben, bis daß es lichter Morgen wird, daß wir niemand von ihnen übriglassen. Sie antworteten: Tue alles, was dir gefällt. Aber der Priester sprach: Laßt uns hierher zu Gott nahen.

Dann sagte er zu den Männern: »Kommt, wir wollen noch heute Nacht den Philistern nachjagen und sie ausplündern! Bis zum Morgengrauen soll keiner von ihnen mehr am Leben sein.« Die Soldaten antworteten: »Tu nur, was du für richtig hältst!« Doch der Priester wandte ein: »Lasst uns zuerst Gott fragen.«

Saul sagte: Wir wollen in der Nacht hinter den Philistern herziehen und unter ihnen plündern, bis der Tag anbricht. Keinen von ihnen wollen wir übrig lassen. Die Leute antworteten: Tu nur, was du für richtig hältst! Der Priester aber sagte: Wir wollen hier vor Gott hintreten.
