Aber das Volk sprach zu Saul: Sollte Jonathan sterben, der ein solch groß Heil in Israel getan hat! Das sei ferne! So wahr der HERR lebt, es soll kein Haar von seinem Haupt auf die Erde fallen; denn Gott hat’s heute durch ihn getan. Also erlöste das Volk Jonathan, daß er nicht sterben mußte.

Doch da schritten die Soldaten ein: »Jonatan, der Israel heute durch seinen mutigen Vorstoß gerettet hat, soll sterben? Niemals lassen wir das zu! So wahr der HERR lebt: Nicht ein einziges Haar soll ihm gekrümmt werden, denn er hat diesen Sieg heute mit Gottes Hilfe errungen.« So retteten die Israeliten Jonatan vor dem Tod.

Aber das Volk sagte zu Saul: Soll Jonatan sterben, der so viel für die Rettung Israels getan hat? Das darf nicht sein! So wahr der HERR lebt: Ihm soll kein Haar gekrümmt werden. Denn nur mit Gottes Hilfe hat er heute diese Tat vollbracht. So befreite das Volk Jonatan und er brauchte nicht zu sterben.

And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
