They hatch deadly snakes
and weave spiders’ webs.
Whoever eats their eggs will die;
whoever cracks them will hatch a viper.

They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

Was immer ihr ausheckt — es ist, als ob ihr Schlangeneier ausbrütet: Wer davon isst, stirbt, und wenn jemand darauf tritt, schießt eine Viper hervor. Ihr gleicht Spinnen, die ihr Netz weben. Bekleiden kann man sich damit nicht, und man kann auch keine warme Decke daraus machen. Die Fäden, die ihr spinnt, sind Fäden des Unrechts. Gewaltsam wickelt ihr eure Opfer darin ein.

Schlangeneier brüten sie aus und weben Spinnengewebe. Wer von ihren Eiern isst, stirbt; zerdrückt man eines, fährt eine Natter heraus.
