Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

Ihr seid Gottes geliebte Kinder, daher sollt ihr in allem seinem Vorbild folgen.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Geht liebevoll miteinander um, so wie auch Christus euch seine Liebe erwiesen hat. Aus Liebe hat er sein Leben für uns gegeben, und dies war für Gott wie ein wohlriechendes Opfer, an dem er Freude hat.
But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
Ihr gehört nun zu Gott. Da passt es selbstverständlich nicht mehr, sich sexuell unmoralisch zu verhalten, ausschweifend zu leben oder alles haben zu wollen. Über so etwas sollt ihr nicht einmal reden!
Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
Genauso wenig ist Platz für Beleidigungen, Sticheleien oder zweideutiges Gerede. Vielmehr sollt ihr Gott danken und ihn loben.
For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Denn eins ist klar: Wer ein sexuell unmoralisches, schamloses Leben führt, für den ist kein Platz in dem Reich, in dem Gott und Christus herrschen. Das gilt auch für alle, die habgierig sind; denn Habgier ist nichts anderes als Götzendienst.
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Lasst euch von niemandem verführen, der euch durch sein leeres Geschwätz einreden will, dass dies alles harmlos sei. Gerade mit einem solchen Verhalten ziehen die Menschen, die Gott nicht gehorchen wollen, seinen Zorn auf sich.
Therefore do not become partners with them;
Darum macht mit solchen Leuten nicht gemeinsame Sache!
for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
Früher habt auch ihr in Dunkelheit gelebt; aber heute ist das anders: Weil ihr mit dem Herrn verbunden seid, seid ihr im Licht. Darum lebt nun auch wie Menschen, die zum Licht gehören!
(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),
Ein solches Leben führt zu aufrichtiger Güte, Gerechtigkeit und Wahrheit.
and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
Prüft in allem, was ihr tut, ob es Gott gefällt.
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
Lasst euch auf keine finsteren Machenschaften ein, die keine gute Frucht hervorbringen, im Gegenteil: Helft, sie aufzudecken.
For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
Denn was manche im Verborgenen treiben, ist so abscheulich, dass man nicht einmal davon reden soll.
But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,
Doch wenn durch euch das Licht Gottes auf diese Dinge fällt, werden sie erst richtig sichtbar.
for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Was Gott ans Licht bringt, wird hell. Deshalb heißt es auch: »Erwache aus deinem Schlaf! Erhebe dich von den Toten! Und Christus wird dein Licht sein.«
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
Achtet also genau darauf, wie ihr lebt: nicht wie unwissende, sondern wie weise Menschen.
making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Nutzt die Zeit, so gut ihr könnt, denn wir leben in einer schlimmen Zeit.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Seid nicht verbohrt; sondern begreift, was der Herr von euch will!
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
Betrinkt euch nicht; das führt nur zu einem ausschweifenden Leben. Lasst euch vielmehr von Gottes Geist erfüllen.
addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,
Ermutigt einander durch Psalmen, Lobgesänge und Lieder, wie sie euch Gottes Geist schenkt. Singt für den Herrn und jubelt aus vollem Herzen!
giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Im Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus dankt Gott, dem Vater, zu jeder Zeit und für alles!
submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Ordnet euch einander unter; tut es aus Ehrfurcht vor Christus.
Wives and Husbands
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Ihr Frauen, ordnet euch euren Männern unter, so wie ihr euch dem Herrn unterordnet.
For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
Denn wie Christus als Haupt für seine Gemeinde verantwortlich ist, die er erlöst und zu seinem Leib gemacht hat, so ist auch der Mann für seine Frau verantwortlich.
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
Und wie sich die Gemeinde Christus unterordnet, so sollen sich auch die Frauen in allem ihren Männern unterordnen.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
Ihr Männer, liebt eure Frauen so, wie Christus seine Gemeinde liebt: Er hat sein Leben für sie gegeben,
that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
damit sie ihm ganz gehört. Durch sein Wort hat er alle Schuld von ihr abgewaschen wie in einem reinigenden Bad.
So sorgt er selbst dafür, dass sie zu einer schönen und makellosen Braut für ihn wird, ohne Flecken, Falten oder einen anderen Fehler, weil sie allein Christus gehören soll.
In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
Darum sollen auch die Männer ihre Frauen lieben wie ihren eigenen Körper. Wer nun seine Frau liebt, der liebt sich selbst.
For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,
Niemand hasst doch seinen eigenen Körper. Vielmehr ernährt und pflegt er ihn. So sorgt auch Christus für seine Gemeinde;
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
Erinnert euch an das Wort: »Ein Mann verlässt seine Eltern und verbindet sich so eng mit seiner Frau, dass die beiden eins sind mit Leib und Seele.«
This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
Das ist ein großes Geheimnis. Ich deute dieses Wort auf die Verbindung zwischen Christus und seiner Gemeinde.
